Does anyone know what is the maximum resolution a Giant GL-1556 CRT monitor is capable of displaying and at what refresh rate this applies? Thanks a bunch, guys.

That's an odd one, I can't even find the specs on MonitorWorld.com. Is that a 14" monitor? If it is, it probably won't look very good over 800x600x75Hz. Though I had a few 14" monitors that went up to 1024x768x75Hz.

      i think it does 1024x768
couldnt find the refresh though. one post noted using one at school 1024x768 @60hz so might not so 85. Personally i would start at 60 and see if it goes higher or not.

Thanks for the help guys. Reason I ask is coz I'm trying to install Ubuntu Linux (tried Breezy Badger and Edgy Eft with same bad results) at work and the installations reach to the third and final reboot, then I see nothing on the screen, but hear hard drive activity. Don't know if the system's gone into a continuous loop, or the monitor can't display the default 1024 x 768. Unfortunately I don't have another monitor to try it on.

Where are you located? If you are close to me, I have a few 14", 15" and 17" monitors that I want to get rid of, most for free, or next to nothing.

Sorry but I'm located in Asia. Thanks for the offer though.

Well, max resolution is 1024 x 768, prob 60 Hz for this Giant. I was able to borrow an LCD projector, used that instead of the monitor. I found out that the last reboot selects the resolution of 1280 x 960, which can't be read by the monitor, and this causes the monitor to hibernate.
