LG Flatron 1953t-BF 2 seconds to black

Hi I'm new on this forum. To be honest, I'm new about fixing LCD monitors. I got a deal on 5 LCDs who's got the same problems. I can see the LG logo for about 1 second and the other second I can see my computer screen. With the flashlight trick I know this is the backlight. I changed all of the capacitors except the 470uf. The problems is the same. I only touched to one because I'm a noob with soldering. I got some pics for you. English is not my first language, I'm french. I'm here to learn from the best. I have a multimeter. Here's the pictures. The backlight does make a sound when I power on my monitor and a smell too. The monitor power is still on but the backlight flash two times before shut off.

    Thanks

We like pictures of the whole board straight on back and front
Also post close up ff the back of the board where the inverter transformer is
(The oblong one with the yellow stripe round - also advise any part numbers on it.

Try my backlight on my second LG and its the same thing but its not the backlight who's making the sound but one big electronic thing. Will post the photos. It has Qc OK marked on it. 4 backlight is doing the same thing.

I post this thread in the wrong section...

      Pics was the second screen.

Please only deal with one set at a time - you can do what you want to the others but dont mention them on here until this is finished.

You are in the correct forum.

See attached - NO power to boards - set your meter on ohms 2000 and test S1 to S2 and S3 to S4 and post results

Hi sephir, you much probably have to buy new lamps, i see in the picture darkened ends in one side, just to be sure try to make a close up picture of each end of the 2 sets of 2 lamps (4 lamps in total) maybe not all the couple is bad..

"The backlight does make a sound when I power on my monitor and a smell too" You should gently tug on the wires to see if they will come off the end of the lamp, you probably smell an Ozone. Those lamps do not look good.

In italy them costs approx 6 dollars each + shipping whitout cables, you must solder on the old cables. it's a 1-2 hours work depend..

6 dollars each but 4 per screens, 24$ without shipping. That's expansive to fix some 19 inch ^^

If I found them much cheaper why not

I don't know the dollar change ,in euros are 5 per lamp, and think that a new monitor costs 80-85 euros..

                              S1-S2 = 994
                              S3-S4 = 997

The transformers are good but the fault is clear like sun.. the lamps.

Magic word: new... Used 19" 4:3 monitors aren't worth much. I'm struggling to sell monitors like this for 30 euros. Usually it is around 20 - 25 euros what I can get for a scratchless 19" 4:3 monitors with DVI.

That's why I dont want to put tons of money to repair them. I got 5 of them, maybe some backlights are ok and I'll be able to get a cheap surround for testing.

The cost can be 27 incl. shipping, and you have new lamps, if you get an used monitor
you get used lamps and dirt from unknowns, if you get a new monitor you spend over twice

Yeah you're right about the cost of buying a new screen but I already got an 23 inch who work like a charm. Wanted to repair the 5 19inch to try a cheap surround before going for two another 23 inch. Got these for really cheap.

So I've had this monitor for probably a decade now, and it's finally starting to fail. Began with a little sporadic flickering, then eventually started going black (power LED stays blue, can still see image on screen with flashlight). A power on/off fixes it for a bit, but then it happens again. Once it got to the point I was dealing with this every few minutes, I opened it up and just replaced all the caps (minus the big one) on the power board with new Panasonic ones. All the old caps tested fine on an ESR meter, and this worked for 5 days. But the screen just went black again today, so...

LG 37LG5020 and the tale of 2 seconds to black.

I bought an LG 37LG5020 with a very strange issue.. it turns on, the display looks fine, but still, after 2 seconds, the TV shuts the backlight off..

However, if i leave it plugged in for 20-40min.. the time it takes to shutdown the backlight, doubles (to 4 seconds)..

I bought a new inverter, set to arrive on December 13th
