Re: Acer AL1916W, can't find the problem

ok I must have misunderstood something earlier when I said its no good testing lamps as you have no voltages. I have read through and you do have 5v and 13v so do you have any bulbs in anything you can use test are anything you can test these ones in.
If not, do you have a 3v battery or a 500 ohm or 1k resistor perhaps you can force start the power supply with the main board disconnected - that will bring lamps on hopefully.

Re: Acer AL1916W, can't find the problem

I try to connect 4 bulbs like BUDM wrote in here: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19987, they don't light up.
So the inverter don'd work, think.

        OK do you have a 3v battery( CR2032) or 2x 1.5v batteries or a 500 ohm or 1k resistor

the inverter must be switched on with the command from main board or from a connection between 5v and bl_on signal through a 1k resistor but don't use cfl lamps like budm , use its own first, that can be good..

ok you have the pin labels near output connector but its on the shadow in your pic. so locate by yourself the blon pin and do what i've said previously, if you have doubts post here the pinout, please don't post picture, baadcaps.net's harddisk is not big from there to the ionosphere

i don't understand labels , are uncommon, last 6 left/right are for audio, remains adj, eva, adam.. ehm sorry.. det, v_adj, but those adj seems "adjust" so a variable signal like the brightness, i think EVA is not EVA but ENA=enable=bl_on, whatch better.

                    16............BL_Adj.........Dimming control (PWM=260Hz Vpp-p=3,3V)

                    Hope it helps

so the EVA you wrote is the on-off, do the test discussed earlier..
if the lamp doesn't light up place a 1k resis. also to BL_adj and 5v

I think he suggested a lamp testing but if you have not tested the onscreen lamps for now is unuseful, the second part he repeat what i've said earlier about the ps board power on forcing with 1k resis. (aahh.. aaahh.. oxigen!..)

Yes I was suggesting testing the lamps but if you cannot use another monitor to test them and dont have spare bulbs then I or Davi will instruct you on how to try to jump start the power supply with a resistor.
First though can you look on the back of the board for R210 - in your picture it is
to the right of the 14 legged IC in the top left corner. Is it marked 10R0 and can you test it - just on the board for now.

                              R210=10,3ohm

How can I try to start it up with a resistor? And the battery for a what needed?

Re: Acer AL1916W, can't find the problem

Its either the resistor OR the battery - I ask if people have either but they are used differently but for the same purpose.

Thinking is that the main board is not sending a signal to the power supply to switch on so we reproduce that.
The signal is usually 3v so whet you do is disconnect the the main board
and connect a 500 or 1kohm resistor from the 5v pin on the connector
to the on/off pin (looks to be pin 15). If you have the lamps connected then
when you switch on/plug in the power supply they may light or at least flash.

Sometimes it is necessary to also jumper the 5v to the BL adj (pin16)

If the main board BL_ON line is stuck LO, then you have to disconnect that line otherwise it will keep that force on voltage to be low.

So I joined pin 9 to pin 15 through a 820ohm resistor. Backlight started flashing. At least something works. I need to find the SM for model with RTD2533V scaler. Some manuals I have found but they are all with TSUMs

Hurray - as you say something works though flashing may not be enough!!!
                                        Anway did you see this
                                        http://mvptek.koreasme.com/en/produc...uct_04_03.html
looks like pinout for the IC.
If as we think it is just not getting a BLON signal - how about trying to trace pin 15 back -may just be one of those little switching transistors stuck.
Can you post a better picture of the part of the logic board with pin 15 and going across

I remember that the switch board shows a dual led lit, it's not normal i think, the problem is more probably in the mcu, after that why backlight flashes i don't know..
