Is this safe? (Arched PSU)

The board was arching across the pin from the inverter and the one next to it.

I since soldered a big blob across the inverter pin and the resistor (right across where the burnt track is). and the screen works. I've literally only turned it on for 4 seconds, and during the time nothing was arching.

Would this be safe to use?

It looks like it could be recovered.

You should scrape all that black stuff and use a knife to cut INSIDE the pcb to remove the layers that carbonized.

The resistors are in series so you could probably desolder them and use a 1-2w resistor instead on the other side of the board, properly insulated so that the inverter lead won't arch over.

Ok, I will start doing that.

I originally ordered a new inverter thinking that was the problem. Guess I will have one spare now!

Edit: It's a P2050 Samsung monitor. 50,000:1 contrast, real nice!
