Hello!
New to Badcaps so thank you for any help you can provide me.
I have a Dell 2405FPW I purchased at an auction. I purchased it knowing it didn't work correctly.
When a Dell monitor is powered on without a computer connected, the monitor should go into "self test" mode with a color strip test image on the screen. When I power up my 2405FPW without a computer connected, the buttons on the monitor light up, and the screen lights up like it's powering up, but the self test screen won't come up. This is true for either DVI 1 or 2. Also, after a few minutes the monitor screen goes black like it's going into sleep mode.
I pulled the back off and couldn't find any obvious issues like burnt components or bad capacitors. Also, when I plug the monitor in before hitting the power on button I hear this whining sound coming from the general area where the power cord connects to the board.
I appreciate any help!
Thanks,
The Engine Room
