Fixing a flickering HP LCD monitor

So I grabbed cheap HP 2509m off craigslist that exhibits a flashing screen (much like if your refresh rate is set incorrectly).

Everything displays perfectly, however it....flashes....as though the backlight is pulsing between medium brightness and high brightness. Sometimes when I turn it on, it actually corrects itself after a few seconds and works perfectly.

Now, I bought this with the intent to open it up and attempt to repair it. It is a sunk cost, and if I break it further I am not concerned. I bought it to tinker with. My question to the master tinkerers is- where do I start? My initial idea was to open it up and check all the caps. However, I saw in the menu that the monitor only has 3800 hours on it. I am not positive, but that does not seem to be too many?

Any ideas you can throw into the pot would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

I am uploading a video right now, should be live in a few minutes-

PS- I can attach pictures to the thread instead if required, I just figured this would allow for higher resolution ones without clogging up the forum.

Could be bad power supply, bad CCFL and/or bad transformer at the inverter section. From part of the description above, it does sound like badcaps. Sometimes badcaps may exhibit no signs of bulging or leaking. First, try replacing all the electrolytic capacitors on the secondary side as well as the big main filter/smoothing capacitor on the primary side. See if the problem goes away first...

ACER BM320 Monitor - Horizonal Flickering Lines After a While
      by reessi
      Hello,

The monitor started off showing flickering thin (1 pixel) lines horizontally every say 3mm..

They are black on the right and gradually fade to nothing on the far left.
They start either after 5 mins or up to 2 hours after so annoying for testing.
They flicker continuously very fast! With a slight pause milli-second every second.

Initially I cleaned the LVDS cable and connected to the T-Con and then it worked fine for 3 weeks but not sure if this was just co-incidence.

I tested each half by removing the first the left flex from...

      AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
      by wattage
      Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

Wise Wing F199 19'' LCD monitor - recapped
      by momaka
Looking through my repair pictures and notes, it's been a long time since I posted anything in the LCD monitors section. So here goes that.

I'm dedicating this thread to one of the very first LCD monitors I repaired (if not the first one), which was more than 10 years ago now. The monitor is a Wise Wing, model F199. It's a 19” CFL-backlit LCD. I got it for free off of Craigslist in 2009 from a guy, who said he bought it for cheap from Wallmart and the monitor worked only for a little less than 2 years before quitting.

When I saw the Craigslist post, I wasn't...
