At first, the monitor did not come on at all so I Replaced 10 caps on the power supply board (all but 100mf 450v). Now the blue power light comes on but the LCD screen is all white. I read on some of the various badcap threads that this may be due to a blown fuse on the t-cont board. Where is this board located? The shielded metal box on the back of the LCD panel just has two boards - the power supply and a logic board that the vga cable from the PC plugs into. Do I have to take the back off of the LCD panel to get to the t-con board?

Re: Gateway FPD1760 LCD Monitor
It is the long board at the top of the lcd monitor. Follow the LVDS cable from the main board "north" and you will find it.--- begin sig file ---
If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.
We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Re: Gateway FPD1760 LCD Monitor
Thanks for responding "retiredcaps." I found the long board and it looks like there are two possible fuses labeled F1 and F2. They are near one another and are both labeled with the number 110 with the letter P over each number. They both appear to be good (0 ohms) with my multimeter. I will try to get a picture tomorrow but I am not sure my camera batteries are charged or I can get the resolution you are asking for.Comment

Re: Gateway FPD1760 LCD Monitor
I checked the voltage on both sides of F1 and F2 on the T-con board as follows:
1) When power was turned on, the blue light comes on.
2) After a 5 second delay, the voltage on both sides of F1 and F2 reads 4.98 volts.
3) The IC1 regulator next to F2 has 3.3 volts on center pin.
3) The LCD display is all white (fairly bright).
4) After about 5 seconds, the display turns off and the power light goes to amber.
5) Voltages at F1 and F2 go to zero.
The CRT on my 5o year Eico 460 O'scope is so dim that I don't think I will be able to measure the ripple on the supply voltages. I will have to borrow another scope from a friend to check if that is needed. Thanks for the help so far.....Comment

Re: Gateway FPD1760 LCD Monitor
5 volt for T-CON is correct. The T-CON I deal with uses 5V for panel less than 24inch, most big panel uses 12v. There should have other voltage regulators (1.8v, 3.3v , etc.)/switching power supply for the Gamma control, the controller of the processor, etc.Never stop learning

You can see the switching power supply done by the round black surface mounted inductor in pic #5 post 11. Can you see any test point pads with voltage labeling next to them?Never stop learning

Re: Gateway FPD1760 LCD Monitor
I am including a better focused picture of the center section of my T-CON board so you can see the area around the surface mounted inductor you referred to. I don't see the test point pads with voltage labels but maybe you can since you know what to look for. Also, do you know if there are any service manuals available for this monitor on the Internet? Or, if it was made by Samsung for Gateway, is there an equivalent Samsung model that may have a schematic on the Internet? Thanks.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

by penangitHey everyone, hope everyone is fine, I got an issue hoping you guys can help me,
I got a HP V193 monitor it has a E59670 now i got a few of these, been using them for long time now, however this particular monitor was blacking out for a few times then after unplugging and plugging it back in it gets back to normal until now its dead.
I tried switching the power supply board with another similar monitor and it works,so I'm trying to fix this power supply board I got some basic in electronics as a hobbyist.

by momakaNormally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow.
But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though.
I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...
