Hi guys..

I have a hp 2009v that shows an image saying "Monitor going to sleep" and then goes black.. If i turn it on again, then that message shows up again and shuts off...

What could it be?

Did you check the VGA cable, try it with another working PC? It will go into standby if it does not see the video signal from the PC.

yes mate.. tried with another cable and then tried with the same cable but other monitor. This monitor is faulty

I can see two 3-pin voltage regulator on the main board, the big one (U703?) is 1.8V (1117-18) regulator, the small one next to it I cannot read the number on top.
Check the DC voltage on all 3 pins of both regulators and report the readings, chassis is the ref. Ground point for the meter.

readings on stand-by..

1117-18 - 0.00/1.81/5.08
1117-33 - 0.00/3.31/5.12

readings with power on...

1117-18 - 0.00/1.81/4.44 ??
1117-33 - 0.00/3.31/5.12

When i press the power button the 1117-18 voltage regulator pin3 drops to 4.44v..
Damaged voltage regulator or something else mate?

Your regulators output voltages are OK. We need to find out what generated the that 4.44V which should be 5V. Need to find out how that pin is being fed by 4.44V goes to.
