Odd findings after opening my Sceptre X20WG

I'm totally new to this forum and found it by googling my issue with the Sceptre X20WG that I picked up at Habitat for Humanity. The problem was similar to what the OP here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14513 was having. Basically the blue light would come on for a few seconds, then turn off for a little while, then would come back on if I hit the button. This was also accompanied by a very quiet but high pitched whine, and nothing would appear on the screen.

Anyway, I figured it was capacitors, like that guy's issue turned out to be. The first odd thing is that while I was led to believe it should be really easy to get to the board with the capacitors, I had to do some serious damage to get inside. See picture #1. There was absolutely no other way to take it apart. Believe me, I tried. For a while. After taking my monitor apart I stumbled across something, that combined with what I just mentioned, is making me question if I somehow acquired an X20WG that's very uncommon: the capacitors on the board look different from any pictures I have seen and they don't match up with WG20X repair kits from sites like this: http://lcdalternatives.com/Repair-Ki...-P1660440.aspx So on my board, that cap with the blue question mark doesn't appear on any other pictures I've seen. Also, the three near the bottom on my board are two different sizes, but they all appear to be the same capacitors on the standard boards. Otherwise, everything appears to be exactly the same.

Mine's definitely a WG20X, and it's not any other variant. At least it's not labeled like that. So my question is, did I somehow get a rare breed, or did the factory mess up and send this out, did someone screw up the repair, or am I just dumb/I'm missing something and this is common and I just need to replace the caps that are there?

Pic #2 is my board & configuration, pic #3 is from the thread I linked and seems to be the standard WG20X configuration.

Hope I did everything okay & I apologize if not!

The sad tale of the manufacturers......Although many Monitors and Televisions, have the same Model number and look the same from the outside...what they put in them can be vey different, and probably will depend on who supplies the boards they can get for a particular production run,and no doubt the cost is a prime factor. So you just got a different one.

Thanks for the info! I'll take this to mean I should replace the capacitors that are on my particular board, then.

Hi - yes you should replace the caps ideally all except the Big One. You should good quality caps panasonic FR FM or FC or nichicon or rubycon equivalents.
Remember to check physical size when ordering some with same values v & uf can come in
        different heights/widths
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

            Sceptre 48" TV backlight LED`s
            by spirittoo
Trying to fix a backlight problem with a Sceptre 48" TV.

I found replacement strips with the same part number as the strips in the Sceptre, but the new backlight strips have 5 leds per strip and the ones in the tv has 6.

So I decided to replace the leds instead. I found 3 bad ones. I had no problem removing the bad ones with a heat gun, they came right out. However the leds on the replacement strip would not come out with heat. I use my solder iron as well, they will not come off.

Anyone know how I can remove those leds without damaging them?

Sceptre X505BV, blue LED, no display
            by tom_h
            Hello all,

I have a Sceptre X505BV-FMDR8HJ1PE8 tv that had been gradually over time taking longer
and longer to come on, now it will no longer display any image. Original symptoms
are the red standby LED would turn to blue immediately when pressing the power on
button, but there would be a delay for the "SCEPTRE" image to appear on the screen
and backlight to come on. The delay kept getting longer, then it would go from blue
LED back to red. Then when I pressed the power on button again it would bring the
            display up and work fine....

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...

Sceptre X405BV -- Backlight on in standby?
            by DoorOfTime
I have a sceptre x405bv TV with bad LED strips. The screen displays dimly over the good LED's, and on disassembling it looks like over half of them are dead tested by multimeter diode test on test points. Plugging it in with the panel disconnected (this TV has a combined power and main board), the backlights immediately receive power when the set is plugged in. When the power button is pressed, it flashes brightly then dims, but additional LED's turn or flicker. When it's turned off again some back lights stay on.

Before I order replacement strips I wanted to ask if it is typical...
