Dell U2410 - how to open?

    Hi,
I have a Dell U2410 that silently went dark as I plugged it into a DisplayPort. I have heard rumours that the unit can blow a fuse and I would like to open it up to check if this is the case, but I cannot work out how to crack it open.

I have searched forum and found pictures of its innards, but no instructions on how to get to them. Even Google has nothing to say on the matter.

So my question is: How do I open the U2410 without damaging the case?

Thank you in advance for your help.
    Russ.

I assume its out of warranty

does it look anything like this - most screen are usually just clips once you get the stand off

Nope, nothing like that. No slots, cracks, gaps or spaces where a prying instrument can get it. This is my last Dell monitor. If they are going to make stuff that can't be repaired, then I am going to find stuff that can be. It is immoral.

          Hello

This is the way how I opened my U2410f rev A05 some days ago.

          Power off monitor.
          Remove support leg.
Remove the 4 Philips screws which are located on the back side of the monitor.
On the front side of the front frame where the Dell logo is located direction from the inner part side clamp with your four fingers and carefully pull the frame towards LCD panel.
          Remove the whole frame.
Disconnect the two connectors from the front frame.
Put the towel on a desk and put the LCD panel on the towel.
Remove the support screws from D-SUB, DVI connectors.
On the 4 corners of the monitor where the front frame was you can found now 4 holes.
Put carefully a flat screw driver into the hole 5mm max.
Start to lift up the back frame meanwhile focus on the 4 RCA connectors which can stack the frame...
Use a 2nd screw driver to lift the frame on other corner also.

This way you can open your monitor without any scratch on plastic frames.

          Cheers, G

Glad I found #Griffmadar response as I needed to open mine. Thanks for posting.

The only difference I came across was
            • Removing the bexel required a kind of slight twisting motion from the inside of the bezel
            • that I didnt need to remove the support screws for the VGA and DVI connectors.
be careful of the connectors on the lower right side (for the power switch and touch buttons). On one monitor there was enough slack to be able to reach the clips the gently remove the connector from the bezel mounted board. On another monitor, there was no slack length of cable to the touch buttons and just levering the bezel, pulled the connector apart (no damage done).

All this was done was because 1 monitor had the power on issue (hit the button multiple times, remove ac cord and press power button, etc) and the other monitor powered on at any time, but had a cracked LCD.

I'm stucking at step "Start to lift up the back frame". and now I'm going to try that again after reading your guide.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

                by Akhlz001
                Hi,

Could someone help trying to unlock this BIOS, seems that Dell have changed the layout of new Dell Pro 8FC8 bioses from checking HXD - 4000 bits do not need changing, only 2000. However after FF the section starting from '01000' upto 2000 bits and then soldering the chip back it seems that the microchip on the motherboard is recovering the bios back to original settings after first boot. Has anyone found a way to crack this extra layer of security Dell have implemented? Seems both HP and Dell have upped bios security to match Lenovo by implementing extra measures on a separate...

I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...

Dell thunderbolt firmware, extracted from dell firmware update exe. Padded to 1MB.

Some models have a choice of 2 different firmwares, it depends on the dell SKU.
The SKU is in brackets (****)

                Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

                The power/battery...
