Cintiq 21UX with slowly worsening image

I bought a PSU-less Cintiq 21UX last year for $40 and after I got the power issue fixed I hooked it up and noticed that I had a few wonky lines but otherwise it was fine.

I ran into driver issues with the PCI card that was driving the screen so I unplugged it and I forgot about it until today when I was cleaning my desk. With no power being applied the screen went from okay to unuseable.

I suspected that possibly the ribbon contacts to the screen had failed but if that was the case I should be seeing the artifacting remain the same when I change resolutions. It does not.

With the power supply being external there isn't much logic inside the screen. The video PCB seems to revolve around one BGA chip.

Does the original Cintiq suffer from ROHS catwhiskering or is this something else?

Clean & reseat all removable cables.
Only appear to be a few electrolytic caps on main board - change them?
    Check voltage regulators?
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

If I were going to bet on something I'd say a bad/oscillating voltage regulator, or bad RAM (that Samsung chip.)

Samsung un55ks800df - Display slowly degrades
          by p2computing
          Hello everyone,
          I have a Samsung UN55KS800DF

When I turn the TV on the picture initially looks great

After 10 seconds or so, the bottom of the screen starts to show issues and it slowly creeps upward

Eventually the entire display is ghosting and distorted. If I power the TV off for a few minutes and power it back on, the cycle repeats with a good display that slowly degrades.

I have attached an image of the display after about 3 minutes of being powered on

Thanks in advance for all you do for us!...

Use of a Variac to slowly power up equipment
          by tony359
          Hi all,

I have an old Apple II monitor to restore and I do have a big variac. I've always wondered whether a variac is a good idea to power on equipment which has been unpowered for (likely) decades?

When it comes to analogue stuff, I suppose it's ok and I'm probably going to see the device slowly coming back to life with a lower voltage applied.

But I suppose this won't work for devices with digital components in it as they won't work unless the proper voltages are applied?

In case of an old monitor, it is safe/good for the monitor to...

WACOM CINTIQ 24HD DTK-2400 no power.
          by SONY_E-WASTER
          hello I have a Cintiq 24 hd dtk 2400 manufactured aug 2011.

it has no power. Tested with known good power bricks. The green light on the power brick dims when connected to the Cintiq. this is a WACOM display that takes pen input for illustration and the like.

I dissembled it and located the power input board and noticed a heat damaged component. (see pic)

The problem of the laptop is very slowly, even when entering the BIOS settings, it is slow to deal with, and in the picture I removed the hard disk, changed the RAM, changed the processor, the BIOS flashed, I tried it with another charger, the same problem remained
