    TM-0915 transformer

    Samsung Syncmaster 2233RZ
Tried replacing capacitors with new ones.

Screen still shuts off after 2 seconds.
Can see the screen still with flash light.

Removed the transformer and tested the secondaries.
    1st pair: 854
    2nd pair: 902

So they are just barely within 3%.
Anything more definitive I can test for or just order a new one?

I have pics just can't post them from this iPod.

Try test lamp, such as this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19987
    or T5 4WATTS lamps.
or inspect the lamps and wiring.

        1) For most of the time, you don't have to remove the transformer to measure the resistance of the secondaries.

        2) I always do the math this way. If 854 is the "correct" reading, then

        854 x 0.97 = 828.38
        854 x 1.03 = 879.62

So if the second transformer falls in between the two above numbers, then it is good.

        3) Before buying a new transformer, do the ccfl test and examination as suggested by budm. If your transformer readings were 854 and 1500, then it is more obvious what is wrong.

BTW, this person had a 2 seconds to black problem (same monitor), but his transformer readings were more obvious.

I don't have access to spare pink or blue connectors for the ccfl test. The connector is pretty tiny to get anything in there to make the connection with anything else. What type of connection could I use in place of the pink/blue connectors?

You can solder the wires directly to the connectors on the board, you can see the two pins per lamp on the soldered side of the board.

OK, bought a 3 pack of 14w cfls and hooked one up to the inverter board. Same result; cfl lights for 2 then goes off like the screen did.

Anything else to test before ordering the transformer?

I am assuming your panel has more than one lamp and if so you should
be using the test lamp in turn with each lamp. As I recall it explains this in
                        retiredcaps guide quoted above.

My bad. 4 lamps. The 2 connectors on the side where the push button connector is are the ones that turn on 2 seconds. The other 2 connectors are not lighting the test lamp at all.

So is this a single transformer setup or two transfromers, one per two lamps? If it is two lamp setup, then I would swap the working one with the one that does not light up the lamp, if the problem follows, then you have bad transformer, if the same two lamps still do not light with the know good transformer, then more components in that section will have to be investigated.

Single transformer (one tm-0915). Each lamp will light for 2 sec if I plug them in to the connector near the push button connector.

If it is single transformer, then that will eliminate the transformer driving circuits problem since the primary winding is driven by single circuit, so it does look like you do have one bad secondary. Are there four small blue caps close to the secondary side of the transformers that lead to the lamp connectors?
