i have this 17inch old monitor which doesnt even light the led. i inspected the circuit, no blown fuses, the caps seem good. i get 11V and 3V from the main rails of the circuit. is this normal?

Re: Asus MM17D no power
If this is on the power board, 11V and 3V are not normal voltages. We tend to see 12V and 5V. 5V usually found on every monitor for standby.
Most power boards have their input and output rating written right on the pcb.--- begin sig file ---

Re: Asus MM17D no power
true. thats why i figured this out. there is nothing written but i know that the voltage could be the problem.
i measured: the secondary diodes: ok. fuses:ok. big resistors:ok.
the caps seem good too.
if you want i can post pics.Comment

it has DVI in whereas 17D doesnt.Last edited by selldoor; 01-11-2012, 05:05 AM.Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Asus MM17D no power
anyway it is very strange, i just re-measured the voltages, 12,6V and 4,9V. now its confusing me. this voltage is in the logic board too. and 4,9V in the switch board. but the LED doesnt light and there are no signs of life.Comment

Re: Asus MM17D no power
I have google translated the captions - doesnt help much but i notice
he has changed the Blue caps on the logic board so that might be somewhere to start.
This is today just repaired LCD, due to bad too! PO to share it out first!
Look at its form according to:
After the failure of black and white picture ─ start!
Posted a good few warranty stickers, I do not know the previous repair a few times?
Internal configuration of photographs:
First those who do not burst! Have all the updates for the capacitor explosion at Japan's! ! Then the back of the solder joints to strengthen!
Unfortunately! Transmission test! Or black and white!
Just on top of the machine's motherboard, you have already seen an explosion convex sesame burn it?
I did not see the previous note ㄋ! Then it is replacing!
I have first measured ground resistance, OK after the power transmission!
Otherwise! Here you are not measuring the voltage! Because if it is not OK! Transmission will immediately be burned!
5V voltage side that has come TCON-side:
Unfortunately! Still black and white!
Up into the TCON! Remember just PI board; AD board has been processed! Again ~! The TCON
CPT for the CPT panel referred to!
Here is the main power supply position TCON:
TCON fuse has been open! In addition to the other, measure the resistance to ground on both sides of chip capacitors are turned! There are short-out parts!
The TCON from the cut section to find a suitable SMD capacitors, and Fuse replacement!
Two-to-ground resistance are ok! Transmission test again!
This time the ok now! There was almost a fool! Because in addition to asus's logo, the other is black and white!
Display to normal! Motherboard then locks back into the side of the motherboard power supply capacitors further updates!
Well! Finally done! pi plate bad! Board also bad! Again tcon also failed! It is a bad lot it!Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: Asus MM17D no power
Suggest you start by measuring the output of the voltage regulator U202, It's marked AIC 1084-33 and should have an input of 5v and an output of 3.3V. I'm not sure what U201 is, but it wouldn't hurt to also measure it's voltages.Comment

Re: Asus MM17D no power
Thanks for confirming it. I drew a blank on that one. Probably too early in the day.
Senndogg, I've attached the pinout of U603. What is the voltage on the output, using the Gnd pin for the black lead?

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by ShadowAiHello, I have an issue with the motherboard. Specifically, it doesn't power on, more precisely, the POST initialization doesn't occur.
Let me start from the beginning, the motherboard suddenly stopped working one day. There are no beep signals from the speaker, and the debug LEDs are not lighting up. After inspecting it under a microscope and using thermal imaging, I didn't find anything that could be damaged.
After that, I began voltage measurements, in which I noticed the absence of VDDQ, VDDP, VTT, and VPP lines. Later, I checked if there is an EN state on these lines,... -

by sam_sam_samI have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump
One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy... - Loading...
