Have seen a Dell E172 next to me, the green power LED is blinking every second. (It's on maybe 10% and off 90%.) Backlight sometimes flickers in time with the LED. But otherwise dead. Seems okay in standby, glows orange continuously. Suspect bad caps, any idea on the fault for this model?

Re: Dell E172 blinking power LED
I just saw a similar thread about this monitor, regarding the driver transistors. If I can get hold of it (and that depends if my clueless IT department doesn't just throw it in the dump) then I will see about replacing those transistors. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

bad solder on the inverter, especially the 4 transformers, it can cause the failure of the transistors + mosfets and they will take out the inverter pico fuse

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. ๐
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by Mark01Hi guys,
This is my first post! ๐
I have no idea what Iโm doing, but Iโm learning by trial and error.
Iโm currently working on a Dell Optiplex AIO 7490โone of a bunch of AIOs that mysteriously failed to POST just a few days after the warranty expired. The original issue was that the PC worked fine until it was rebooted, after which it got stuck on a black screen (no backlight), with fans spinning at normal speed and a solid white power LED. Forcing it off by holding the power button would just cause it to switch on automatically and get stuck again on...07-04-2025, 12:54 PM -
by zlr8rhey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.
Ill try and give as much info as I can.
Dell Inspiron 17 (7786) Laptop
Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
Bios: 1.9.0
When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has... - Loading...
