Ok so I am back to trying to fix this gateway monitor that carries a infamously bad repair rep. Lets see if some of the intelligent minds here can help me put the pieces together.
Symptoms(objective): Plugging into the wall, led light shines blue
Led light shinning>plug in vga from pc native>no picture
Unplug vga from monitor> no "no signal" sign
Press Power Button (i.e. LED Button)>no response/does not turn off
Plug vga back in and shine flashlight into lcd> no picture
Force turn off by unplugging power manually
Diagnosis:
Well the Power Supply / inverter board does not seem completely bad, atleast the power supply part doesn't, this being concluded y the fact that it turns on.
The Main Board on the other hand may be experiencing some difficulties as for the fact that there is no viewable picture regardless of backlight.
Obviously the backlights are not on, so there's a clue, possible inverter problem?
What Iv done to the Board Already:
I have replaced all the filter capacitors on the motherboard, and changed out the i guess filter caps on the main board ( note I changed the main board caps with some presumably working saxmons, by wich I mean they looked ok, from another monitor I replaced all caps on)
This did not change the symptoms so I was advised to check the voltage regulators on the main board and the all read within their ranges 3.3 and 1.8. I also measured the output voltage off the power board and the all put out there proper voltages, 12.0 and 5.1, although the other leads that are anyied "BL","N/F" and "CNTRL" i have no idea what they do or how to measure them.
I also took a look at the logic board on the back of the LCD Screen and tested a the only fuse I could find labeled F1and it tested fine, though I dont think the logic board is a problem because the symptoms are the same with screen or no screen, I might as well mention to be sure.
So now Im back to the Power/Inverter Board, and I believe the problem resides in the inverter section for this board. Im not sure but I believe that some of the cffl transformers may be bad, or possibly the transistors for the inverter section but I am not skilled enough to know how to test these or Identify them specifically. I will post all the pictures and data I have collected about this monitor in this post, thanks ahead of time.
