    Gateway FPD1975WH re-capped, bad colour

I recently re-capped a dead Gateway FPD1975. It's working now (was dead, flashing power light) but the colour is a bit off.
Whites are white, so not a bad lamp as far as I can tell. Reds just a bit washed out, but grey is quite brown.
I did an auto config, didn't help. Gateway says unplugging for a while will reset it to factory... that didn't help.
Does anyone know any reset menus?

Try checking the voltage regulator(s) on the logic card. If they check ok, then possible dried out caps on the logic card.

I just fixed a NEC unit that was washed out by replacing three caps oin the logic board.

Well I finally got around to recapping the logic board, no change.
I will try a different video source, since my notebook refuses to do 1440x900, and I'll try the DVI input to see if anything changes.
Oddly the on-screen menu, looks fine...

This is trivial, but have you verified the VGA cable connecting your computer to the monitor is good?

Also, the ribbon cable that goes from the logic card to the LCD control panel. Have you tried reseating it at that end?

I did try a different cable (been burned by that before) I'll be taking iot to work tomorrow to try a different video source on analog and DVI.
The cables all got re-seated when I disassembled it the second time to re-cap the logic board.

Well tested it at work with a different source and cables.
DVI- almost perfect, colour maybe just a hair off.
VGA- same as before, greys are very pinkinsh.

Not sure if I'll bother much more with this one. Maybe if I run out of other things to fix...

Sony OLED XR-77A80J - 5 Flashes But Turn On After Hard Reset
                  by odie34
I am a hobbyist (not a professional) so please be gentle...

I recently received an XR-77A80J that wouldn't turn on. (Repeating 5 flashes when plugged in.)

I did a hard reset by holding the power button for about 30 seconds until the set powered down. I then tried to turn it on and it powered up, bringing me to the setup screen. There's not a lot of detail on the setup screen but the picture didn't have any distortions, so at least a cursory examination suggests no physical damage to the screen. The set appeared to be working normally, but it shut down after about 15 seconds,...

Philips MDP 3380/12 Blu-ray Player – No Power, Reset Signal Always High
                  by ictc
I'm troubleshooting a Philips MDP 3380/12 Blu-ray player that shows no signs of life. The display remains off, and no buttons respond.

Inside, the power supply is working correctly, and all expected voltages on the mainboard match the service manual specifications. The CPU warms up slightly (checked with a thermal camera), the crystal oscillator is functioning, but the reset signal remains high at all times.

The reset circuit appears to consist of two NPN transistors, one driven by 5V VCC and the other by 3.3V STBY, as shown in the attached schematic. Should the reset...

ASUS M5A78L-M LX - PWR button works sometimes, CPU stuck in reset
                  by kotel studios
                  Hi,
Firstly I'd like to apologize if this was posted in the wrong forum (I'm new here )
Recently I got an ASUS M5A78L-M LX board in a scrap lot. Saw one broken cap which I've replaced. No broken traces and missing components. While soldering a new cap a bit of solder got onto components bellow SB (opposite of the two lythic caps). Didn't see it and powered the board on.
I was greeted with it not starting. Came back to it a day later and shorted the PS_ON with GND to force it on. It sprung to life but with CPU stuck in reset (it was an FX 4600 I believe). Thats when I saw the...

BenQ TH681 Originally overheating now wont fire the lamp - Colour wheel not starting
                  by AJ847.63e
                  Hi All.

Does anyone have any reference materials or something I can use to try troubleshooting a BenQ TH681? Google unfortunately has turned up zip. I did find a service manual for a W series BenQ but that is pretty much useless, it's more a glorified user manual. A list of voltages would be great as I suspect my mainboard is faulty, the colour wheel voltage is not dipping like it should.

The one I am troubleshooting now was originally overheating after a lamp replacement. It originally would take 2 minutes or so for it to shut off and blink the temp and lamp lights...

Asrock H87-Pro4 Rev. G/A 1.04: Power cycling on reset only
                  by MyBrainIsAStrainer
                  Hi!

I have a weird one for you. I have a H87-Pro4 from Asrock that power cycles. But only when you do a restart after it was already running!

                  Symptoms in detail:
                  1. I switch off the ATX PSU for ~15-20 seconds, then switch it back on again.
                  2. I press power button. The board boots without issues.
                  3. I can shut down the board any way I want (via OS* menu, or pushing the power button - either in the OS or the boot manager).
                  4. Push power button again, board boots fine.
                  5. This shutdown/powerup can be repeated multiple times without problems.
                  6. BUT: If I do a restart instead
                  ...
