    19" TV/Monitor seems to over heat

    I repalced a bad cap on a 19" Magnavox last year and it has been working OK up till today. I have been monitoring the heat escaping through the vents on the top on the set for weeks, and to me it was too hot, so I was planning on cutting out a 3" hole on the lower back case and installing a 60mm cooling fan on the back to help the caps cooler.
    Several times last night watching the TV system, the picture started to get blurry and started to cut off. I would let it cool for 15 minutes and it would fire right back up but soon it started acting up again. Today it died after 10 minutes on so I took it apart and placed a fan blowing on the curcuit board.
    It's been on now for 60 minutes with a clearer than ever picture so I decided to share the results with this board.
    Badcaps.com on the PC monitor to the left and the backside of the 19" LCD on the right.
    Great picture now!

    Replace all the caps and you won't need the fan...

    In these, it's never just one cap causing issues.

      Whenever starting a thread try to have the model number in the thread title or at least in the post. This makes it searchable for anyone working on the same set.

          Do you have an ESR meter? The similar Dell's share the same style PSU. I recapped the PSU sans the mains filter and they've been solid. I'd start there and move over to the video board if not corrected. The ESR meter would make this easier.

          Ripple getting to the video board would cause overheating.

              Ripple can be read easy on a multimeter - AC mV scale < ~25 mVAC = Good
