    Clarion PU-2471A-G

    Hello everyone,

My oldie C3 has a never serviced before Clarion PU-2471A-G radio.

Lately the car radio has been acting up with some banging noise and, when it happens (more frequent than not) it would cut the radio sound.
Most of the times it would recover some seconds after, some other times would take minutes or, in a couple of times, I had to full stop the car and start it back on.

Well, I took the matter of checking what was going on and, sure enough, I would find dead caps in there.
I did find these 3 busted capacitors:
    C309 - 16V3300uF
    C512 & C521 - 16V470uF

I have replaced C512 and C521 with two new panasonic I had here 16v680uf.
They are slightly bigger but it had enough clearance for them.

Now, I would like to ask your opinion on replacing C309, as it is a big cap and am failing to find it on european stores.

    Thank you in advance.

Replace it. The cap gets hot and the sleeve is shrunk. Maybe get a 25v 3300uF cap instead, probably easier to find. Check Mouser or Digi-Key. They should have plenty.

      Thank you for your input.
I was afraid of using a 25v one since I didn't knew if it could damage the auto radio.

      Will search for one then.
