DMR115 , Makita on site radio

Hi all

Trying to take this thing apart & there are 2 screws buried deep in the back of unit .

Look like torx of hexagonal heads .

Can anyone help with type & size of driver required ?

Depending on what country you live in but if you live in the USA you can go to Harbor Freight and buy a set of all kinds of bits and there should be one that fits

Pulled up the exploded view , & seems to use M3 HEX type screws

Ordered a 4 piece set of long bits from Ebay .

Hopefully one of them will fit .

Contrary to exploded view ,the head is actually a Torx type .

It's a TX15 & needs to be a minimum of 100 mm in length to reach screw .

How do i know ? , well ended up sacrificing a long HEX 3 mm bit , which i filed down enough to grip screws , then remove them .

Now to deal with no power issue .

Discovered an SMD fuse O/C , next to connector CN4 .

Might be lucky for a change .

I would gauge it's value at just over 3 AMP , as battery is rated at 3 AMP & the charger 2.5 AMP .

Will replace it & hope for the best .

yes, but they arent usually used in deep recesses - i find tri-wing in those types of casing

wait till you find the custom ones that only the manufacturers have the correct tools .

a lot of those can be opened with a small flathead.

the ones with dimples i open with a flathead with a notch ground out of the center

adapt and overcome.
i have lots of cheap screwdriver sets from £ stores.
i dont care if i have to file or grind them to fit a specific job.

Hello,
I have the same problem, replaced the fuse, works fine, but now only way to switch off the radio is to remove the battery.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Hi! were you able to solve the problem? I also have two such radios, they work after replacing the fuse but cannot be turned off.

another problem is that if I connect a battery, the fuse blows immediately. due to sudden high current consumption.

trace the battery wires through the fuse and see where they go - then see if that area is getting hot

Hello guys,

If the radio cannot be turned off, replace Mosfet (1) and resistor (2). Resistor is 1M and Mosfet is AO3403. Mosfet is used as a simple DC switch. I used replacement MOSFET IRLML5203TRPBF and it aslo works.
