I made an error measuring the LM317 regulators — the voltages actually look good. That makes me suspect other op-amps may be damaged.
FYI, current power consumption is: standby 14 W, turned on 23 W, and just sub (without control pod) 5 W. Previously, when an op-amp was shorted, the unit drew 100 W.
Standby still uses a lot of power. It makes me wonder if that are perks of an old design or some other fault?
On the IR camera all the op-amps are heating up and the ADC appears to be operating as well.

I’ve figured out that the reason it only works in Stereo and Optical mode (I haven’t been able to test Coaxial) is because in any other mode (Dolby PL2 Movie/Music, 6-Channel Direct, or Pink Test) it goes mute. The Control POD pulls pin 8 low, which are the MUTE pins. Now I need to figure out why it’s pulling that pin low when it shouldn’t.Comment

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!!
what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol! 
i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing... -

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.
This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).
I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but... -
Good day folks. A former colleague of mine asked me to have a look at his prized Z5500 system which he's very fond of. He said it suddenly stopped working. He brought the sub and the console to our old shop where we use to hang out and the issue seems to be the console/pod. It turns on, the display works fine, the volume adjusts up and down, everything looks perfect but there's no sound at all on any of the channels, including the subwoofer. There IS sound coming out of the headphone jack though, so sound is making its way into the pod, but not into the sub where the amps are. The easiest way...
