Re: Another Yamaha RXV671
What do you mean by "Hang all Qpins one by one? I've been repairing gear for years if I don't know what you are talking about how is this guy going to figure it out?

Re: Another Yamaha RXV671
Hi, Please Do check all the Transistor Amplifier. each pair consists of PNP and NPN Transistor. Make sure that they are okay. try to compare the measurement. then after that try to hang all QPins one by one. after that go to Protection Circuit and check if there is no suspicious component.
If all the components are okay you can proceed to check the Main Power Supply.
Thanks.Leave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
Apologies, I forgot about the service manual.
Not easy to look at on an iPhone lol.
I haven't spent a lot of time on it so far, mainly checking for dry joints, and checking caps that have been mentioned in previous posts.Leave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
It's never wrong to ask a question, but if you want to get folks more interested in your case, maybe you should update this thread on what you know, or have figured out in the mean time. You also didn't attach the service manual nor pictures, so I am sure not too many folks are going to spend their time on it like this.
I've seen your posts on the other forums as well and figured your were well on the way.
If it would be me, I'd check and monitor that voltage source. Since it goes high after some time being turned on and is not stable wandering around, I'd say it is heat related. It could be something stupid like a cold solder joint.Last edited by CapLeaker; 02-03-2019, 11:17 AM.Leave a comment:

Because I received no replies on one forum and only a couple on the other, is it wrong to ask nowadays ?Leave a comment:

Re: Another Yamaha
Why would someone repeat the work others have done, reading the schematics, interpreting 160/129 etc.
You've cross-posted the same repair to at least two other forums:
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/yamaha-amp-woes/
http://repairalmostanything.com/thre...-yamaha?page=1
Perhaps you should finish work with those forums.Leave a comment:

My Yamaha RX-V671 has an illness
I think we had a power surge/outage a couple of days ago as my PS4 informed me that I hadn't turned it off properly, it's usually left in rest mode to charge the pads, anyway, amp turned itself off when my wife turned it on, and then again, so I tried, same thing, I reset the amp, checked all speaker cables, then powered it back on, it worked fine for about 45 mins then switched off again.
Diagnostic mode gives the error: PS: PRT 135 H
I also see a fluctuating value in p1-2 diagnostic: PS 160/129 which suggests a high volt error somewhere ?
No C405 on this amp lol
I have the service manual, but wiring diagrams have never been my strong point :/Tags: None

by SinnyoneHi all,
This is a repost since I never completed this fix. I just left it, but now the receiver powers off into safe mode and does not complete the Self-Diagnostic when i start with those buttons pushed. It says it is, but does not do the diagnostics and does not show any faults or that it has none, which it should do. So here i am again. The previous post did have a schematic but I think it was cut off somewhere. I do not know what board it is referring to. Any help would be appreciated.
I have searched through the forums and have not found anything about my problem. So,...-

by nzphilI have a Yamaha YST-C10 mini-stereo that was made around 1990. It has two cassette decks, a CD player and an AM/FM tuner. When it is turned on in tuner mode, the cassette deck capstans normally run for about one second and then the radio will begin to play. Currently, however, the capstans run continuously for about five minutes followed by running intermittently in two second bursts for another five minutes. The radio will play softly when the capstans stop during the intermittent phase. After about 10 minutes of this, the capstans stop completely and all the stereo functions work fine.

Help Needed: Yamaha RX-V485 Network Issue After Firmware Update (WN9711 Error)
Hi everyone,
I'm facing an issue with my Yamaha RX-V485 receiver. During a firmware update, the process failed, and now the USB, Bluetooth, and network functionalities are not working. Occasionally, the receiver displays the error code WN9711.
I came across Yamaha Technical Bulletin No. 0103, which describes a similar issue for models like the RX-V4A, RX-V6A, and RX-A2A. According to the bulletin, the issue can be resolved by shorting soldering points (e.g., J260 for RX-V4A or...-

by jjneI have an old Yamaha RX V675 receiver which is starting to develop issues with the sound, although it doesn't quite match up with what folk normally report with these.
From cold, the sound cuts in and out. When this happens the amp is losing sync with the optical input (speaker graphic disappears from the front panel). But this is not resolved by putting the unit into pure direct mode. After a couple of minutes this resolves, although there are occasional clicks from the speakers after that.
At first I thought it was either a speaker relay or the DSP, but I don't think...-
