    Yamaha RX-V485 Wn9711 Update

Help Needed: Yamaha RX-V485 Network Issue After Firmware Update (WN9711 Error)

    Hi everyone,

I'm facing an issue with my Yamaha RX-V485 receiver. During a firmware update, the process failed, and now the USB, Bluetooth, and network functionalities are not working. Occasionally, the receiver displays the error code WN9711.

I came across Yamaha Technical Bulletin No. 0103, which describes a similar issue for models like the RX-V4A, RX-V6A, and RX-A2A. According to the bulletin, the issue can be resolved by shorting soldering points (e.g., J260 for RX-V4A or J755 for RX-A2A) to reset the network module. Since the RX-V485 appears to use the same network module, I suspect a similar fix might apply.

However, I couldn't find any documentation or information about the soldering points for the RX-V485. I've searched the service manual but had no luck identifying them.

Has anyone here encountered this issue with the RX-V485? If so, could you point me to the soldering points or share any advice on how to resolve this?

I'd appreciate any guidance, images, or steps that could help. Thanks in advance for your support!

    Best regards,
    Sanal Kumar

Shorting J260, puts MPU's "MODE" leg (pin 145 of TMP4G9F15FG) to the GDN. If your avr has the same MPU, then try to manually short that pin to GND, but before you do that, check if that pin has 3.3V when avr is on.

Fixed: Lenovo P14s Gen 1 (type 20Y1, 20Y2) Laptop (ThinkPad) bricked by a withdrawn BIOS update (r1buj82w)
        by akwky
        Hi!
Went dumpster-diving and found a bricked Lenovo P14S in trash, few weeks earlier. Symptoms - no screen, no POST, no beep, just keyboard LEDs flashing on powerup. Mute button+LED was responding though, and the display self-test was still working (via the key combo Ctrl+Fn+Power held for some seconds, see the Service manual).

Incidentally, Windows 11 have recently started auto-flashing computer BIOS in our region. Even more suspiciously, Lenovo has released a BIOS update just few days before the PC was trashed. About a week later, the BIOS update image has been oficially marked...

Maximum speed should be marked on network ports
        by japlytic
I noted that a number of consumer entertainment devices have the maximum speed marked on the wired network port and considering that there are broadband plans faster than 100 Mbit, the wired network port can be a bottleneck since some routers do not have Gigabit (only 100 Mbit) support for the WAN port let alone the wired network ports.

One other thing: Certain low cost network cables only have two pairs which limits speed to 100 Mbit.

z490-f gaming bricked after bios update
        by lordgeny
I had to assemble a PC with this Z490-F Gaming motherboard and an i7-1700K CPU. Upon the first boot, the CPU LED was red and flashing. I realized that I needed to update the BIOS. I didn't read the ASUS notice that said, "Before BIOS update, please download Intel ME update tool from ASUS support site, and update ME firmware to Version 14.1.53.1649V1.1 to ensure optimized system settings." I updated the BIOS without doing this, and everything seemed fine until the system performed an Intel ME update and shut down permanently. My attempts to reflash it were unsuccessful. Searching online,...
