Our Yamaha keyboard PSR-230 has been stored for some years in the attic and now that my grandson is into music playing we got it down only to find that it does not produce any sound from the speakers any more and it was a-OK when stored. When running the DEMO we can see the music playing on the LED's above the key's but in silence. I managed to find a service doc and see that I have 0 volts at pin 5 (STBY)from the power amplifier (LA4705) module.The ON signal is supposed to be a "PCo" from IC100 (GEW10) pin 18 & 55. I don't see any electrolytic capacitors with a "dome" head in the path as I sort of would suspect that this could happen after the long time not powering it up. I find it hard to believe that the signal from pins 18 and 55 from IC100 would go wrong and I can only measure with a scope on connectors CN400 and CN911 that it is 0 volts. As the IC100 is on the underside of the PCB I can not measure directly on the pins of the IC. Anny suggestion will be highly apreciated. Cheers

Have you tried a Master Reset?
To perform a factory reset on a Yamaha PSR-230 keyboard, you can do the following:- Turn off the keyboard
- While holding down the [+] and [-] buttons, turn the power on
- Release the [+] and [-] buttons when the top of the screen displays "Clr All!"
Also check:
If your Yamaha PSR-230 is not producing sound, you can try these steps:- Check the headphone jack: Make sure nothing is connected to the headphone jack.
- Check the speaker setting: Ensure the speaker setting is set to "Normal" or "ON".
- Check the master volume: Make sure the master volume is not set too low.
- Check the foot pedal/foot switch: Ensure the foot pedal/foot switch is connected to the SUSTAIN jack.
- Check the LOCAL CONTROL setting: Depending on the model, the LOCAL CONTROL setting may need to be turned on. This setting is usually found in the MIDI settings section of the owner's manual.
- Reset the piano: Try resetting the piano or keyboard back to factory settings. This operation may delete the backup settings and data saved in the instrument's user memory.

I got a Yamaha HTR-3065 on the bench currently that's got a no power/ no standby issue.When I plug it in it draws 0.01A from the wall, the relay for the ac transformer never clicks, there are no standby lights on the front, and pressing the power button does nothing. The fuse was not blown but upon measuring the voltages on the power low voltage power supply board (labeled operation 3 pg 89 in the schematic) they do not match what the schematic says they should be.

Hello everyone,
Could someone please advise on this. I have this Yamaha taken from a friend for repair, especially since it had a USB for my interest. But it is not working at all.
Here is what has been done so far. Checking the standby switch did not show 3.3 volts on one of its pins, the other was ground. it is showing as 0.60 volts. I have changed the switch as it had some resistance even when normally open. After changing the switch, I next saw that PIN 91 is not showing 3.3 volts.

This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.
Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today.... -
Hello forum. I've recently been given a Yamaha TSX 120 DAB radio and ipod dock. Its working well however when put on standby its using 6.3 watts. The manual states less than 1 watt on standby. I measured this with a plug in monitor which seems accurate with other items. In use it uses around 7.5 watts. Firstly has anyone who owns a similar radio also got a plug in monitor to check if this is normal with this unit? In the first half a second the monitor shows 0.3 watts which I suspect is what it should use but something is switching it to be almost fully powered. Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.
