Yamaha keyboard PSR-230 will not come out standby
Our Yamaha keyboard PSR-230 has been stored for some years in the attic and now that my grandson is into music playing we got it down only to find that it does not produce any sound from the speakers any more and it was a-OK when stored. When running the DEMO we can see the music playing on the LED's above the key's but in silence. I managed to find a service doc and see that I have 0 volts at pin 5 (STBY)from the power amplifier (LA4705) module. The ON signal is supposed to be a "PCo" from IC100 (GEW10) pin 18 & 55. I don't see any electrolytic capacitors with a "dome"...

Re: HP pavillion dv6 wont boot
Hi, I've found a brandnew mainboard for $85,99 on Ebay. Company name is Ascendtech.
Just replaced the board and running as new.
I just used better thermal paste than HP did.
I hope that this will make the difference in performance.
Cheers.Last edited by Joseph67; 08-02-2014, 02:54 AM.

Re: 40Gb HDD has only 20Gb space
Hi Agent 24,
The most important bit was to connect the drives to an IDE port and than run the program.
Once there it was indeed edit the HPA and set it to it's native value and done.
Thanks.

Re: 40Gb HDD has only 20Gb space
Hi All,
It worked out A-OK!!
The trick was indeed to connect these drives to another PC on a IDE bus and from there in the device config menu I could set the drive to it's native size.
I now have 5- 40GB HD's instead of 4- 20's and 1- 40!!
Thanks for all your help.
Never realized that after all it was not that complicated.
Cheers, Joseph.

Re: 40Gb HDD has only 20Gb space
Thank you for this information.
I will setup an older system with a long IDE cable but still... How to open the manuals in the CD?
Thanks....

Re: 40Gb HDD has only 20Gb space
Hi again,
I have burned the HDAT2 iso to a CD and can boot from it up on my laptop.
When I look at the device list, the 20/40 HDD is listed as something not to obvious but I can see it and it has the 20Gb disk space.
Also the internal HDD and the CD writer are in the list.
Perhaps because it is connected with a IDE to USB adapter there is no indication about HPA setting or anything else so I still don't know how it is limited to the 20gb.
Also I either don't see a "Device configuration Menu" in the program...

Re: 40Gb HDD has only 20Gb space
Hi Per,
Been away some time but back now.
Thanks for the info but...???? where do I find HDAT2 program?
Also the hint about the F/W from a member ..I do have some real 40GB drives with their 40GB space and they have all the same F/W.
Hi Artois 7.
I am still running XP and I don't see the administrative tools nor computer management so no screenshot for now.
As I wrote, I do have several of these drives "Seagate Momentus 5400.2" and they come from printers. The same printers had in a later revision...

Re: HP pavillion dv6 wont boot
Thanks for the suggestion.
I've got a HOZAN spot heater with some heads of the right size so I will have a go at re flowing the chip.
Cheers, Joseph.

Re: 40Gb HDD has only 20Gb space
As I have a few of them, I just opened one to see and it has only 2 platters with 4 heads. All 4 present.
Thanks....

Re: HP pavillion dv6 only boot sometimes
Hi, my Pavillion dv6 does boot sometimes but most of the time does switch off before getting to boot. I have measured the voltages on the filters and they seem OK, like 3V, 5V and 12V and that is after the power led goes off.
Even plugging it in the mains just to charge the battery has the same effect i.e. the power led goes off after a short wile. This particular board does not have an NVidia chip but an ATI so I don't think it has anything to do with the video chips.
Any ideas??
Thanks.
Joseph.

40Gb HDD has only 20Gb space
Hi, I realize that this is about a part of a laptop but I like to ask anyway for your input.
I've got several 2,5" HDD model ST9408114A from Seagate.
The label does state 40Gb but there is only about 20Gb space on them.
Also from the label it is an drive manufactured for OEM distribution and they where supposed to be used in printers.
Obviously the printer manufacturer limited the storage space some way.
I have tried to delete the partition and than activate it again and format it but no way to find back the lost space.
Any bright ideas??
Thanks....

Re: Fixed: Shuttle XPC Power Supply by ACHME
Hi CdTe,
Good job and indeed, most of the times it is just some of the cap's going bad and showing it off by their pointed hat!
Also, by powering off completely you also save several ten's of dollars a year on waisted electricity!!
Cheers, Josep.

Re: Proview LB 2006 W Monitor
Hi Momaka, That a shame. When I was at school we used the actual components like vacuum tubes (ECC83; EL84; etc...), "normal" resistors and electrolytic capacitors of 50uF/450VDC!!
I had to learn a lot afterwards in practice when one had to work with the newer stuff.
The "wounded monitor" is still waiting for new inspiration and time as I have been building in my house in Nicaragua for 6 months and just got back to Spain. First have to fix all things that went wrong when I was away and after that I am allowed to "play"...

Re: Proview LB 2006 W Monitor
Hi starter28,
With SMD components it is very hard to find out the value of capacitors and obviously not all that important.
It is like "selldoor" wrote, just look at the size and if it is shorted replace it with one of about the same size.
I have tried to get some info from Proview but they don't even reply.
I must assume that there are not that many "nuts" around who try to repair the Tcon board.
I think most just replace the whole monitor as prizes have come down quite a lot in the last...
