The LX55 is the same as the VSX2021 and VSX53.

You can download the latest firmware here:

Do you require the full Pioneer firmware to install from USB or the DSP file dump to repair a corrupted flash memory?

Thanks for the photo and link of the chips you used. The one fitted to your board looks 100% fake to me, so I wouldn't bother trying to make this one work

The one you show next to it looks genuine but if it's from Aliexpress it will be a used one at best and at worst an old B revision marked with a D.

It's a big gamble buying these from eBay or Aliexpress because NONE of them are "100% brand "new as they claim. They are ALL lying because these chips were never available to the public, only OEMs like Pioneer and Onkyo because of the DTS/Dolby copyright.

I don't know how to extract the DSP data from the Pioneer firmware installation .mem files but the file I uploaded is tested and good. If your replacement DSP chip is working, the file should restore the audio.

I stopped buying them from Aliexpress and eBay because none of them worked and the markings on the chip had clearly been altered so there was no way to know which version you had bought.

    Hello,

    Here I leave the data:

    https://es.aliexpress.com/item/10050...yAdapt=glo2esp

    It welded perfectly at 300º

This one really looks original, a while ago I bought another one for a vsx1021 that has the same problem and that one seemed like a bad copy to me, yesterday I tried to upload the 2021 file to the 1021 eeprom but it didn't work....it would be possible to extract from the file provided by pioneer.MEM the .BIN to load it into the eeprom???...

Luckily 2021 is working perfectly now...I'm very happy.

Sorry for the English, it's from the translator...

    ## Attached - DSP firmware dump from Pioneer VSX-LX55 ##

Tested and working in both VSX-LX55 and VSX-2021.

Circuit location is: IC9004, device is: MX25L1606E.

Version is 119 from Pioneer firmware AVR_1_204087119093

I loaded this into my VSX-2021 IC9004 although the rest of the receiver was still running an older firmware version. It then started up and ran fine. I was able to perform a full update via USB to the rest of latest version detailed above.

Hello, Thank you very much, same problem and solved by copying the.bin file to the eeprom. Before this I thought the problem was with the Chinese chip, but no... it's the corrupt software. Thank you!!!!

Thx so much for your work Andy! After flashing your file my VSX-2021 with a 'B' DSP and with the *** instead of DSP flash part# is producing sound again. Luckily, the MX eeprom could be flashed on-board with AsProgrammer. After switching on I checked the firmware number and was initially sad to see it was still showing ***, but after a few seconds it changed to 119. After toggling the source selector I immediately got UE22. After rebooting it a second time, there was no UE22 and there was sound via the VIDEO input. I still have to try HDMI inputs, but even if they cause UE22 I'm still happy I can use it with analog stereo sources. I should add that first off I heated the DSP IC9002 for about 40 seconds with a heat gun set to 270 degrees celcius ~1.5cm above the chip.

I still have a problem though... I can't find any firmware upgrades. It is currently on version 1-191-086-119-063.

Can anyone share the latest version with me?

Does it display the current firmware? maybe that could be a clue what to change.
I did not want to leave the files up incase it did not work. I can upload the edited file if needed.
Where have you uploaded it? Can't seem to find it.

The other option might be to change revision and release numbers in the file itself
I tried renaming the file. Still says "NO NEED UPDATE", I'm thinking this is internal to the programming.

Not sure how to change the revision itself. Might need a hex editor? only thing is that's where my know-how ends.

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
    by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...

Pioneer PDP 436 SXE Strange Sound
    by Jaxxon0121
Hi all, im new here and a complete novice with electronic repair so please bear with me. The problem i have is with my Pioneer PDP 436 SXE TV 43' plasma tv. Its recently started making a strange clicking/popping/electrical sound that is very loud and annoying. The tv works fine other than that. The sound doesnt happen straight away. After around 10 minuets of use, usually when the screen turns black on a tv program or if i exit a youtube video and the scrren goes black for a split second, that is when the sound begins and then doesnt stop at all until the tv is unplugged. The sound is coming from...

Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB (Chassis SR) TV Repair Help - Distorted Subwoofer Sound and overall weird sound waveforms
    by LEECH666
    Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

Reverse engineering of 18650 4-channel tester
    by spleenharvester
    Hi friends

I have reverse engineered this tester, schematic is attached and is complete except for capacitor values. These testers annoyingly have no model number but they are the ones you find on the first page of just about any website if you type in "18650 4-channel tester". There is also a 2-channel variant and a newer 8-channel variant. They are very cheap (about £15) and can measure voltage, current, internal resistance and capacity. They have a multicolour display for all these statistics. They also have terminal blocks so that if you want to use a breakout board...
