Re: Pioneer VSX-1122-k shorted V+3.3_HHH rail
I have made a mistake, by calling the bad IC, IC903. It wasn't the IC903, it was the IC9602.
I have ordered a IC903(just arrived) and I have just realized my mistake.
Now I need to place an order for a IC9602.Comment

Re: Pioneer VSX-1122-k shorted V+3.3_HHH rail
Aah... the other HDMI processor Sil9387A that does the front HDMI and port 1,2 and 3 on the back. The ATL7010 is a ferrite bead. They have a certain impedance at some 100MHz or what ever frequency. So it's a filter. As far as DC goes, it measures a short.Comment

Re: Pioneer VSX-1122-k shorted V+3.3_HHH rail
As far as that missing IC, I don't really know, but it would not surprise me, since the whole thing probably firmware controlled as it is programmable. So missing a key integrated part should stop the booting process. It's not like it is a small IC or something that doesn't have any memory inside.Comment

Re: Pioneer VSX-1122-k shorted V+3.3_HHH rail
Finally, I'm back.
HDMI IC soldered in, jumped the inductor for now.
There is 3.3V there, so that short is gone.
But, still won't boot up completely.
Shows Power on, than STBOX/CBL and other things light up on the display, than shuts off and MCAA LED start blinking.
I have measured the output of each amp, with the meter set at the mV scale, I was getting between 10-23mV DC.
What else should I check?Comment

Re: Pioneer VSX-1122-k shorted V+3.3_HHH rail
I have also measured pin #71, which is 4.84V. I'm not sure, if that is good or not, because it is not specified. It seems low, no?
Same goes, for pin #80. I don't know, what should read, when it is working OK.
At pin #72, I'm getting 4.2V and it should be 5V (High) is normal. This is for Temp protection. This one seems even lower. It is not too low?
At pin #81, I'm getting 5V, which should be 5V (High) for normal. This one look OK. This is for Thermal protection.Comment

Re: Pioneer VSX-1122-k shorted V+3.3_HHH rail
Yesterday I have found two shorted transistors, Q527 and Q530 on the vertical board, that connects with the HDMI board.
By removing those, the receiver started right up. Yeahhh!!
I can't take the whole credit for this, because Mastertech, from the forum repair almost anything, helped me.
Finally a breakthrough. I still have to replace those transistors, an inductor L9606 at the HDMI 3.3V power rail.
I also need to see, if the HDMI ports work or not.Comment

Re: Pioneer VSX-1122-k shorted V+3.3_HHH rail
I still have problems, but only in the digital section.
Half the HDMI ports don't work and the rest has only audio.
That audio, is on and off too. Every five seconds, goes away for a second and then comes back right away.
I'm wondering, the main HDMI IC it is not damaged as well?Comment

by guizmo1967Hello,
This is my problem:
Laptop: Dell Latitude 5501
Motherboard: EDC51 LA-H181P
I have two power rails shorted to ground, +1.0V_PRIM and +3.3V_ALW_PCH. I removed solder on PJP302, +1.05VALWP (pad1) not shorted but +1.0V_PRIM (pad2) shorted.
I also cleaned PJP38, pad1 not shorted, pad2 (+3.3V_ALW_PCH) shorted to ground.
I measure the resistance of all the coils on the motherboard and they all were not shorted to ground except coil PL301 before I removed the solder on PJP302.
I injected +1.05V - 2A... -
This is MS board M1029273-001. I'm getting <.2 ohms on output of the second mosfet. Looking at a schematic, I injected 1v/5a to the resistor pin where this mosfet connects to, and it is drawing 3.7a but the only thing getting hot in the thermal camera is this resistor which surprises me.
Where should I be looking from here?... -
by im_tryingHi, thanks for helping.
The motherboard is from a gaming laptop, msi gf65 thin 10ue, 16W21/11S.
For starters, it doesn't power on. I measured a "short" on the second DC-IN mosfet, right around the charging port but I don't know how to find the component that's shorting it.
I already tried checking the mosfet for internal shortage (by desoldering and measuring) but no short. The drain on the motherboard is the one that's shorted, next to the gate (that's not shorted).
The photo below shows this better than words.
Thanks for anyone...1 Photo -
by sarry86Hp pavilion 15 cc183 shorted the entire 3.3v rail, this thing is giving me a headache, I tried injecting 500mV and 1amp but the thing I suspected would be shorted (PCH) doesn't heat up, what could be the problem? I am outta ideas tbh 😢

by Lee M.Has anybody tried to use IR night vision goggles or other thermal imaging device to find a shorted line in a ribbon cable going from a panel driver board into the panel? I would think the shorted line would get hotter than the other lines and might just show up on a thermal imaging device. Just wondering if anyone has tried this and if so did it work?
