    Clarion Head Unit Problems

Hello everyone, I have an old Clarion Head Unit. It's a Clarion DXZ585USB.

TLDR version: I have an old flash drive that works perfectly on my head unit, but my brand new one wont work for some reason. Both are usb 2.0 FAT32

I just got it installed a couple weeks ago and im having trouble getting some things to work and play my MP3's via the USB port. I have an old 4gb Flash Drive, and it works perfectly. Plays all my songs and it lets me navigate all the folders perfectly.(http://www.actionsportdrives.com/v2/...ull_skull.html)

I have an MP3 player (4GB) that i've tried to load songs on and at first it wouldnt read it at all, but i realized its because i was using a USB 3.0 cable. I switched to an older cable (usb 2.0 i assume) and it detected the drive but it gave me an Error 2. Error 2 in the manual says improper format, but the songs on the mp3 player are the exact same ones that play fine on my old flash drive.

So i decided to buy a micro SD card for the mp3 player to see if that would work, but no dice. Next, i bought a new 32GB flash drive, (https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Cruze.../dp/B007KFAG8Y), i assumed that would work since my other flash drive works perfect, but i get the exact same Error 2 when i try to use it. :/

Everything is setup exactly the same on both flash drives, same mp3's same folder setup and everything. Both are formatted FAT32 and are USB 2.0.. The only difference i can see is that my old flash drive says its compatible with USB 1.1, but it says right in the Manual the head unit is compatible with both 1.1 and 2.0.

I've tried many different things, different formats, using different folders, putting the mp3's in the main directory, adding .mp3 tags to the file names. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out.. I can't figure out why one flash drive would work but the next one doesn't.

I just tried formatting the 32GB flash drive down to 4GB and still getting the same error.

The drive was already fat32 but i tried this anyway, but still getting the same error 2. Just wanna add, ive tried renaming the drive, changing the serial number, setting the partition to active and a bunch of other things with a partition tool. No luck. Im starting to think it could be a wiring issue. I had the unit professionally installed but im starting to wonder if they maybe didnt hook up the secondary power cable that powers the USB drive. But wouldn't that make nothing work on the USB?
