Can Someone Help Me Make This Connection??

    Hi Team.
I need to connect a low power amplifier (2W) to and Booster amplifier (100W). The speaker outputs from the low power amp must be connected to the inputs of the high power amp. My problem is that the speaker out wires are floating ground that is the -ve wire is independent of chassis ground and the input to the high power amp is Negative Ground-Chassis ground. Is there a safe way to connect these together without leaving the Speaker out -ve wires on the Low amp disconnected which may lead to Output ICs damage due to leaving circuit opened?

Is this a car stereo/amp ? if it is you need a floating ground adaptor, basically an isolation transformer for each channel. the left and right channels drive the isolated primaries and the secondaries can have a common ground and drive the amp.

      something like this https://www.amazon.com/Scosche-Stere.../dp/B001GQ2QW2

So what low power amp do you have and do you have a schematic for it?

what R_J said, i had one once from Radio Shack.
or try to bypass the original amplifier - or is it built into the audio source?

Thanks....Yes this is for a car audio set up...the head unit/radio has the floating ground speaker outputs....the equalizer/booster has no RCA inputs...the inputs connect directly to the speaker connections on the radio but the inputs are left and right with a -ve GND connection only.

So the 2W amp uses Bridged (BTL) output set up so the speaker connection is not reference to GND, if that is the case then you can use a DC blocking cap on the + of the 2W amp to feed the input of the power amp, the GND will be the common GND.

There you go, by blocking the DC you eliminate the first stage DC being referenced to ground and yet allow the Signal component to pass to the second stage and the signal will still be amplified by the first stage. Well done BudM.

                    Help with boom box modification
                    by Califauna
Hi, this is more of a project help request than a troubleshooting question. I hope I can post it here.

I have a W-King D8 Bluetooth boom box which I'd like to modify with some external speaker output jacks and some buttons to switch the internal speakers on and off.

From factory the specs of the boom box are:

                    -Power Input: DC 5V
-Speaker Output Power: 2 x 25W ( confirmed by Youtube channel Hartdegen review as 12.5W RMS per channel)
                    -Drivers:
                    -2 x Woofer, 70mm, 10Ω, 70mm,15W
                    -2 X Tweeter, 8Ω, 30mm,10W x 2

Polk Audio RTi100 Plate Amplifier won't power on and intermittently honks and buzzes
                    by MrCommunistGen
My childhood best friend was killed about 9 years ago. His parents are finally letting go of his things, and they offered me his Polk RTi100 tower speakers. The Polk RTi100 towers are one of a handful of designs from the early 2000s that is a full range 3-way tower with a built-in self-powered subwoofer. This is accomplished with a plate amp integrated into the speaker input panel.

I think they used them for a while, but they've been sitting for at least a few years now. After about 40 hours of driving to their house and back (both they and I have moved in the last 9 years) I got...

How to test Subwoofer Amplifier with only a multimeter
                    by jinu_j
                    Hi Folks

Need some advice on how to test a subwoofer amplifier if i have access to only a multimeter.

                    Problem
I have a Boston Acoustics active Subwoofer (soundware S). Its rated output is 200W. But the output i am getting is very low i can barely hear/feel it even if put the gain at max. I replaced all the capacitors in the Subwoofer amplifier but still no change.

Is there anyway to test this without getting an oscilloscope/Function generator to see if the fault is with amplifier, driver or the source??

                    Any advice would be appreciated...

                    Mackie CR4 amplifier no sound
                    by UserXP
                    Hi, people.

I've got an amplifier assembly from Mackie CR4 parts. It's just an amplifier, there was no speaker housing, so I used my set of CR4s to test it.

Anyway, upon connecting everything and hooking the "new" amplifier to an audio source, the sound played clearly and strongly for the first ten seconds. I was happy it was working. Then the sound started to fade out during the playback until it was no more. After it had "dropped to zero", there were two very short intervals of sound playing at the normal volume, as if the amplifier was trying to...
