Do you get audio with other inputs or is it just the HDMI which doesn't work?

Have you tried another cable? Is the signal source known good?

none of the hdmi put out audio, also the radio will not work, or the headphones.

If you get nothing from any input, check for a general fault in the amplifier section.

Do you know how to do signal tracing?

ok on page 18 I have a green, yellow, and black wire from the main transformer. I see what I think is the protection circuit relays from a 110 volt feed. I think the main feed goes throught the relays and power the rectifier then the filter caps which is to be 52.5 volts but I get 85 volts on the 1 and 4 pins of the rectifier. the 52.5 volts go to the amp section. what am I missing?

                  Re: onkyo ht-r580

                  It's a split-rail power supply with a +52.5 (+B1H_B) and -52.5 rail (-B1H_B)

So you should actually be measuring about 105v across pins 1 and 4 of the bridge rectifier.

Measure each rail separately and see if they're both low or if just one is low. You can use the rectifier's heatsink as ground ref.

Also might pay to check your meter on a known good voltage source as the meter could be bad or the battery flat.

Now would also be a good time to post a bunch of photos of the inside of your amplifier.

If the relays do click, and SOME signal does end up in the speakers, then it should be reasonably safe to assume that whatever issue is present, is before the power amps.

If there was some power amp problem (DC on the output, or some short in the output transistors), some protection would've triggered, and the output relays wouldn't have clicked on.

                        See my post #7.

Ok, i'll try to spell it out: in my post #7, the pages i indicated contain what seem to be block diagrams / signal-flow diagrams for the various audio paths, from the inputs all the way to the power amps & outputs.

I'm sorry, but noone here on the forum can do the testing for you, no matter how much we'd want to

ok on page 17 on the + and - 15 volt supply, q4171 was grounded. d4304 is bad letting voltage flow both ways. cut d4304 and q4171 went back to ungrounded. if everyone thinks this was the problem, I am going to replace q4170,q4171,d4304,d4305,c4170,c4171,c4172,c4173.

                                input please thank you kenny

"Q4171 was grounded" = you mean its output was shorted to ground?

If D4304 was shorted, then that would make sense. For now, replacing only that diode should be enough at least for a test.

Although since that -15v rail (along with the -7 derived from it) supply basically all the opamps, as well as that multiplexing / source switching chip, its absence would indeed explain the lack of audio.

                                          Hello,

I have a problem with my Onkyo TX-8050 Receiver. I got it from aftermarket and it was just delivered today.

It doesn't play music. There is no real output from:
                                          pre-out
                                          amp-out A and B
                                          phones out

The only real sound I hear is a humming from the speakers when I play a song from usb or select a analog source. And when stopping and starting songs from usb or switching sources, I hear a crack from the speakers.

I tested with analog-input, usb and radio.

I know that there is a common problem with...

my question is has three wires u v w for driving a motor fan i found an other receiver wireless from aliexpresss with the same propertiew but for dc motor
the motor fan has not label
i have an other receiver operational
In your opinion can i measure the voltage at the output ?
what do you suggest me with a simple instrument multimeter or using someone instrument more specific ?
                                          thanks in advance...

I have an onyko 919. It has a hum problem at cold start which eventually dies / goes quiet. I have been "chasing" it for a while. Tightening ground screws and checking a few places. Basically, the problem is in the "back half" of the unit.... that is, if I take the sound out of the "pre-out" and feed it to a stand alone amp, it is good. If I feed in a signal at the external decoder input and play thru the back end of the onkyo, it has the hum.

Anyway, along the way (the chase), a number of components (resistors, capacitors, etc) on the main board...

DSE GE6878 possible TV receiver dying remote not working well
                                          by CdDvdFlash
For this Dick Smith TV GE6878 (Thompson) I replaced the broken remote with a universal it kinda works though if its more than a few meters away sometimes the buttons register and sometimes they wont so I bought another remote from another brand and it has the same problem, I've had an old TV in the past that the sensor died completely and I replaced it to fix it could this be a similar problem? I tried looking for a service manual, spare parts for a receiver and a parts list but I couldnt find any info. can someone please help me to find the info online for a service manual or where I can buy...

                                          PowerMac G5 ACBel 614-0303 buzzing
                                          by dcbw
The PSU works, but shortly after powering on (either in the G5, or by shorting the power-on pin to ground) it begins buzzing loudly. It also makes the LED lights connected to the same circuit flicker. It's definitely a buzzing, not a high pitched whine.

The buzzing seems to come from the high voltage side of the board, perhaps from the white relay. Could the relay be bad, or could the 5V supply be bad enough that it's unable to keep the relay on? Any pointers to help isolate the issue? Thanks!
