    pioneer deh-p7800mp ribbon replacement

my faceplate was going out with signs that grew increasingly worse.
replaced the ribbon cable & the screen doesn't come on.
i checked continuity of the ribbon & the pins.
looked at the schematic & seen a trigger (remote signal) for the faceplate detection.
tried jumping the trigger to test the signal going to the screen, but was unable to trick the radio into thinking the faceplate is installed.
put the faceplate on, removed power as if taking the key out of the ignition & the faceplate drops down to be removed as usual.
all the buttons work, the backlights work too.

anybody know what i can try next?

    Re: pioneer deh-p7800mp ribbon replacement

    still no replies huh.
well let me say the screen worked prior to replacing the cable.

    elementary knowledge tells me this..
if there was a kink in the ribbon cable, the capacity of the trace would become increasingly less as the trace began to break.

there's only two ways to go about it from there:
    1. the crack in the trace causes the connection to weaken, heat would build up eroding the connection from evaporation accelerating the break in the trace.
    2. the screen's resistance follows the need of the trace as if pushing the electrons is simply not allowed and the excess charge causes connections inside the screen to break which lowers the resistance keeping the screen on for a much longer time.

if they choose number two, they could get years of additional use from the hardware.
but then simply replacing the ribbon cable would bring conductivity back up and the electrons wouldn't be pushing at all, they would be too free or floating as if the cable was new & the screen was new.
thus the resistance of the screen doesn't fall within the threshold of the processor & the processor refuses to turn the screen on.

that is the only thing i can think of, because if the components were working before the ribbon was replaced, there's nothing else within reach that explains why there is a lack of electron flow.

i'm not the only one on the internet that has had the same problem, as i've seen other posts of people who replaced the ribbon and they said the screen wouldn't come back on.

on top of that, the screen for the faceplate costs more than the radio itself.
if these repair centers are able to send electricity through the screen with enough control to melt the connections back together .. well they are charging a huge price for the screen that isn't even being bought.

it isn't impossible for a molecular structure to pull on itself to break connections, only to have heat come along and melt the connections back together.
but it would be wise to vibrate the signal to create a new web, rather than a solid signal that creates clumps.
though everything has an opposite, and the same clumps could happen if you vibrate the signal .. it's a matter of design choice.

i've had that thought in my head since the same day i replaced the ribbon and couldn't get the screen on, but i have yet to touch the screen's inputs with electricity because i don't know if it needs a solid source or a vibrating source.
a solid source would probably need some azimuth too, because i wouldn't expect the whole screen to fill up with a solid amount of electricity from only a couple input pins.
people who know about air intakes know a square is always going to have corners that are neglected.

it's a shame too, because the radio sounds above average.
plus it's got time alignment, but equally important is the 16 band graphic equalizer.

more worse than that, i'm not seeing any of these radios for sale that have been refurbished.

kinda makes me wonder if the owners are replacing the ribbon cable themselves because it is kinda easy, only to find out the radio still doesn't work and they toss it out and somebody comes along and fixes the screen and ships the radio underground to some city.

that is a mighty hustle to get customers to fix the problem themselves only to give the radio away for free where it could be sold again.

more annoying is the fact that there's dozens upon dozens of radios for sale on the market but there's only two that i've found that replace the features, and one of them has had dozens of nasty reviews claiming the radio has issues (it was a kenwood radio, and they made it sound as if the processor was glitchy or dieing).

the other option is a new pioneer model, but why buy another pioneer for a large amount of money when it can't be fixed?

i emailed every single pioneer service center that had an email address talking about what i thought was wrong with the screen, only ONE of them replied back to me and their reply was utterly stupid saying nothing more than 'do you want your radio fixed?'

pioneer corporation said in an email .. i don't expect any of the service centers to provide assistance, they probably want to do it themselves.
    key word there: expect
secondary to that is the domineering.

think about the position the repair centers are in, if they simply acknowledged i was right then i would have no choice but to send in the faceplate and let them zap it.

there's a lot of components that make a home theater receiver, and there are receivers with the same price as the pioneer.

some might say you don't really need the screen to use the radio if you use the manual to navigate through the menu without the screen to change the settings.
but first of all, for the price of the hardware i think that 'luxury' should come with it.
second of all, what about people who want to show other people the power of time alignment & equalizer calibration?
they are oppressing the audiophile industry in more ways than one.

if anybody has something i could check to get the screen working, i'd like to know since i've already got the hardware and building a car-puter seems like the only sensible alternative & i don't have the money for all that is required to build such an installation.
besides, vehicle radio's aren't going away anytime soon, i don't think it is too much to ask for quality features.
i think that sort of entrapment is discrimination.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
      by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
      by smic717394
      Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

      clock radio / radio lifespan?
      by shelby5041
      hi
ive got a modern digital clock radio approx 15yrs old

my question is how long can a clock radio or a simple radio last ss farcas operating hours?

since elec components have limited hour lifecspan i would imagine the radio or clock radio would eventually fail.

the reason i ask is because i have my clock radio on radio function 24/7 for the past 7 years and its still working fine....i leave the radio on ..never turn off past 7years...thats approx 60000 hours

it uses very little power just a few watts i would imagine that may have something...

      Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
      by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...
