heres another one with more. i used to buy stanton or ortofon but dj type ones. they are good brands though.

dunno if you will really need the digital pitch control of that technics. its really for djs. improved tracking sounds good but even the 1200 was fine, anyway i would probably pay the $100 more for the blue lights
    Egad! More choices!

Thanks for the link, anyway. This is one of those purchases that I will mull over a while. I think that I'll ask my audiophile brothers, although I doubt that they have purchased any audio equipment since the 1980's (or 1970's).

        Re: Good turntables

I was actually looking at the AT440MLa, but wasn't sure if it was good for the price. The only mention I found was that it was considered "bright". Is this bad?

On another related subject. I have some Quadraphonic albums from when I had a Sansui Quad receiver. This setup was stolen from me a very long time ago, but the albums remained. Is there any software decoders available for the various quad formats? With the advancement of computers since the quad "experiment", I would think that someone would have developed something.

depends....if your speakers, amp are bright (excessive treble). then more bright is probably not a good idea.

i have no idea about quad but for the LP formats i believe you will need a compatible stylus.

          more info here? http://www.quadraphonicquad.com/

Thank, but I already found that link.

I did get one good hit about a software decoder, but it looks incomplete:

I don't even know how I would run something like that on Linux. I guess that I should hunt around for an old quad receiver, maybe I'll run across the one that was stolen from me!
