Allowing even decimal stations on an 80's US Delco car radio

    Hi,

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to allow even decimal radios stations on car stereos for the US market ? The original deck in my 1984 Trans Am works perfectly but the radio is nearly useless here because of that. Not that I really listen to the radio anymore, and I've added a jack input, but I like when things work.
Those cars were exported new later and had decks that allowed even decimals. 88-92 models are "common" here. But these units are quite different than the pre-85 Delco units internally so I don't think it's relevant.

    Thanks !

Somebody makes a harness to retrofit one of those later models into yours. Probably crutchfield would have one. http://www.crutchfield.com/support/shipping.aspx .

Yeah but my radio is very rare (well today) and is the right model (UU6). It took me a while to find one at a decent price. So I have no intentions on changing it.
I have a later UX1 unit from an '89 but the faceplate and switches are grey

Many radios have a switch that permits different station offsets. In this case, I believe you will have to seek out a manual or at least a schematic diagram for this radio.

It is almost certain that the tuning IC will have a single H/L pin that selects one type of offset or another.
        Is it plugged in?

By searching for "Delco radio schematic" or "UU6 Schematic" I came up with at least 3 sites that sell the diagrams and service manuals. That's the place to start! Let us know once you have the details.
