This thing is pretty expensive. More than an average notebook.

Anyway. I got this job over facebook market place. Customer said he bought it used and it was working fine, then he decided to upgrade firmware and somewhere along the way the battery died or whatever we don't know, it got bricked. That's his story and he's sticking with it.

If we connect power supply to it, we are getting 21 milliamps and nothing is happening. Pressing buttons does nothing. We got a 3.3V rail and we got a 5V rail. Board looks good under microscope. There are reset pins under S/N sticker, shorting them drops power to 0 milliamps and then it comes back to 21 milliamps. I suspect it just goes to some prompt and there is no firmware.

Problem is to get a dump for it. I've searched internet and got no results. I did contact the manufacturer, very quick response, they told me to send it in, for money they'll reflash it. No good. I might advice customer to send in the board to get it reflashed.... But I prefer to do it myself and get paid.

    I need a firmware dump

    MC is PIC32MX470F

You need the firmware from the manufacturer. Before you do anything crazy, chances are that the chip is read protected. Try reading your chip with a programmer. You just cant dump a different same model speaker. It will output only garbage if the protection is on, unless you are able to glitch the chip and extract firmware that way.
Not that easy getting the firmware as you think it is.
