    Sony MHC-881 CD issues

I've got one of these units, somebody gave it to me. I'm using it as the speakers for my computers...
Anyway, the CD portion has an issue. I don't use it for CDs but I'd like it to not make annoying noises every time I turn it on or bump that cd open button...
I'd be perfectly happy with just removing the cable to the motor that makes the tray go in and out, so it shuts the heck up... but how would I do that?
    Thank you
Here's a video of it (including sound)...

    Thanks for any clever ideas

    No responses?
Should I include more information, or what? I'd really like to get this thing either fixed or at least quiet!

just unplug the whole cd unit if that model allows for it.

I don't understand the question. Yes, remove the cable. Look in there and disassemble till you have access to the motor and if it isn't a ribbon connector or plastic connector block you can unplug, then you just cut the wires.

Sometimes it is an entire module with integrated connectors for the whole thing. Another thing you might consider is unscrewing and removing the entire CD assembly, with it gone there's going to be more open space and airflow for improved cooling.

On the other hand, that thing takes up a lot of space just to provide amplification for computer speakers, you can find modular amps at electronics surplus sites or eBay for under $15, then reuse the speakers.

Sony DVD player stuck tray (DVP-SR310P)
          by bogosort

          Hello,

I have a Sony DVD player with a stuck tray. It seems that moving or pressing on the tray makes it work.

          Anyone knows why?

          Thank you....

          Sony XBR-49X800G networking issues
          by HarryZ
Aloha. First post here, hope I can find someone to assist me.

I have a Sony XBR49X800G with streaming issues. The issue mostly occurs watching sporting events (basketball and football). The picture will sometimes get pixelated, sometimes freeze for a few seconds while the audio continues, sometimes it's jerky. In other words, you get a headache watching the TV.

My ISP provides 500 Mb service and I have verified that I have at least 500 Mb on ethernet, and something over 300Mb on WiFi. I installed Analiti on the TV (it's an Android TV) and I get ~ 70 Mb on both WiFi...

          PS5 Disk Tray issues.
          by welp
I have a PlayStation 5 CH-1215A with a Disk drive not reading disks anymore. (accepting and ejecting very slowly.)
Knowing the PS5 has a married daughter board for the disk drive I made sure to use that and replace the rest of the disk tray as it* was owned previously by an indoor smoker.
Once the job was complete and put back everything together, I tried to insert a disk with no luck at all...
So, I checked voltage going from the ps5 to the daughter board and am only getting the 5V rail.
With that knowledge I preceded to check all the fuses for the 12v rail on the main...

Sony CDP-295/407 tray opens only halfway
          by Xenon-Codex
The mechanism works in other unit, and the working mechanism does the same in this broken unit. So the fault must be in the motherboard. Eject may open the tray with a second try, but it will not close or play any disc.

Repairing the Hitachi DA-6000 CD player
          by nervous_capybara
          Hello everyone !

I recently conducted maintenance on a Hitachi DA-6000 CD player for my grandparents : it had two distinct issues.
Feel free to share your experience if you ran into other issues.

DISCLAIMER : BE VERY CAREFULL WHEN OPERATING ON THIS SYSTEM : THE HIGH VOLTAGE IS VERY CLOSE TO THE VARIOUS TESTING POINTS, PROCEED WITH CAUTION

CD tray would not come out of the player
I could hear a motor spinning inside the player but the CD tray would not come out.
Turned out that the issue was the CD tray belt that aged poorly and began to...
