    Sony XBR-49X800G networking issues

Aloha. First post here, hope I can find someone to assist me.

I have a Sony XBR49X800G with streaming issues. The issue mostly occurs watching sporting events (basketball and football). The picture will sometimes get pixelated, sometimes freeze for a few seconds while the audio continues, sometimes it's jerky. In other words, you get a headache watching the TV.

My ISP provides 500 Mb service and I have verified that I have at least 500 Mb on ethernet, and something over 300Mb on WiFi. I installed Analiti on the TV (it's an Android TV) and I get ~ 70 Mb on both WiFi and Ethernet connections. I'm assuming this indicates an issue with the networking card. Looking for replacement parts I did find some network cards / modules supposedly for this TV. So, I'd like to try replacing this module. But, I cannot find a service manual for this TV. Can anyone point me to a service manual? Or, would you be willing to walk me through the process here on the forum? I fix computers so I'm familiar with proper procedures, but have no idea how to take this thing apart.

With certain tvs freezing and issues with that is a main board issue, maybe see other replies but can be problem. I don't have service manual for this one but you may want to look into the problem being your main board and not actually the Wi-Fi chip. Not to say that it wouldn't be the Wi-Fi chip but freezing you can definitely be the main board. Just a suggestion

Something is peculiar with those numbers, what model router do you have, whole model number, it doesn't look like you are getting what you should but 70 is plenty and should not cause the distortion.

Aloha @EasyBone. Thanx for the info. Any hints on how to determine if it's the main board or the network card?

Great suggestion. I had not considered this as the TV is supposed to notify my when there is an update available. But, it did not. Installing the latest update as I'm typing this.

Yes, I thought they were strange numbers, too. But I read something in a different forum that most TVs have a 10/100 networking card in them, so I shouldn't expect to see high speeds. Can you verify this?

FWIW, the modem is a EMG3415-B10A.

Ah ok, that makes sense, seems like you should be getting about 100, sometimes my speeds slow down and a reboot of the modem and router bring it back up.

If I unplug the ethernet cable from the TV and plug it into my laptop, I get over 500 Mb, so it's not the router.

Well do you get the problem when using just the ethernet connection.

70Mbps is the real world speed on a 100Mbps connection.
Where are you streaming from ?
4k streams are usually between 15Mbps and 30Mbps.

I'm not sure what you mean by "where are you streaming from?" If this is supposed to mean what streaming service am I using, then HULU is the worst offender. Paramount+ also has issues.

And if 15 - 30 Mbps is supposed to be "good", then maybe it's time for a new TV.

If you have the setting and haven't tried it, choose cinema or movie mode for watching sports, that may help, probably best to turn off any other so called picture enhancements, they usually don't help the picture anyway.

I still think main part is culprit. But yes 15-30 mbps should be fine. This is just hunch on my part. I hate repairing sonys personally lol. They make things so complicated for no reason

Not all streaming sources are a service, I picked my words intentionally.
If you had taken the back off your TV you would see that the WLAN/BT card and LAN socket both connect to the main processor.

Aloha diif. Well, if I had been able to locate a repair manual with instructions on how to take off the back panel, I would have. It seems moot now that I know that ~ 70 Mbps should be more than enough for non-jumpy streaming. Would you agree that the more likely culprit in my case would be something other than the networking cards?

A friend has dropped round a Sony KD-49XG8196 which shows no signs of life. No standby led so need to check the basics first on this main board and the power board.
I have only found one site that has it a Russian site that i don't have access to

Any help with finding the manual would be great.
                                          Thanks in advance

Sony Bravia KD-55X8000G stuck at Sony Logo
                                          by NXTPRO
My Sony KD-55X8000G TV is stuck on the Sony logo. I tried disconnecting LVDS and turning it on again, but the TV only showed a white LED (not blinking) and nothing else. Then, I reconnected LVDS, and it still only showed a white LED with the Sony logo. It seems it's not entering update mode. When I used a USB drive and named the firmware file upgrade_loader.pkg, the TV displayed "Updating..."(Sample image attached) but after about a quarter of the process, it restarted and got stuck on the Sony logo.
