    Kenwood R-42L / X-42L problems

    Hello

I have acquired a Kenwood R-42L tuner / amplifier and associated cassette deck X-42L.

The person I got it from assures me it was temperamental but working when they had but now it is totally dead ... there are no lights when plug in and no fiddling with any buttons makes any difference.

I have of course checked the fuse (!).

I have it set up in the same way at this:

Does anyone have an magical ideas that could help me to sort it out?

    Many thanks,
    Danny

    open it?

Trace the circuit from AC input cord all along the path. If it's difficult to follow, see if there's a separate power supply board and check whether there is any output from that.

If I had to guess, since there aren't even any lights (though it could have had more than one failure by now?), maybe burnt rectifier diodes but that's a random wildshot guess.

Providing good top-down pictures of the boards, particularly the power section, might help.

      USB problems?
      by Hondaman
Recently I discovered my SSD died (OCZ/Toshiba 240 GB). It was in a USB enclosure, attached to the Linksys WRT-AC1200 router. Since then I removed the USB enclosure and attached it to my Win7 PC (AMD 8150 CPU, 970 chipset, 64 GB RAM). I also gathered one or two other USB enclosures to figure out what is going on.

(I suspect that I lost quite a few MP3 and FLAC files I recently ripped from my audio CDs, I think I lost very little un-replaceable stuff.)

I think it is IMPOSSIBLE for Win7 to have any problems with a USB enclosure as long as Win7 knows how to speak to the...

Lenovo 11e problems (any sata hdds are not recognized, sleep battery drain)
      by clabr
Need help to solve some problems with this laptop.

After working in bed with it one night and heating up too much (probably the cause of this problems) the sata HDD OS windows froze
After restart the original Sata HDD was not recognized anymore (but works fine in other laptops or PCs)

Tried connecting other good Sata 2.5 HDDs but not one is working in this laptop anymore (not the original nor others)

Before this had happened I observed some other problems:
When I tried replacing original mecanical HDD with a SSD HDD could not get them...

KENWOOD KA-701 POWERS ON, NO RELAY CLICK
      by rccrasher65
I'm looking for some help, sorting out a protection circuit fault on my Kenwood KA-701 integrated amp. The amp does turn on , but the relay don't click. It usually ends up being, a transistor, or cap on the protection circuit, DC offset problem. I can't read schematics real well, and the ones I have are really bad quality. There are no good quality one's I have found so far. Looking for some professional help. Blue Midnight helped me a lot in the laptop forums, but It's been a few yrs, like 6 or so. I don't even know if he's on here or if anyone does the amps, but any help navigating throught...

Suggestion On Where to Look. Kenwood KA-35000 amp
      by VHAALNPATTET
I have a Kenwood KA-35000 amp. I've recapped all the electrolytic capacitors recently. When I first turn the unit on I get a few second hum and a small pop sound on speakers and then silence. I am able to play music, etc without an issue after wards. Because it occurs only at the initial powering up each time and only last a few seconds I am having trouble figuring out how to troubleshoot.

The one other thing I noticed that during the powering off there is a slight hum and quiet pop sound. This I hadn't noticed before. The KA-3500 has a muting circuit that when unit is powered off...
