there seems to be a filesize bug for .pdf files. the manage attachments thingy says the limit is 9.54MB, but the actual limit is 1.91MB, so any file bigger than that just won't upload.
i've PMed topcat about that a while ago..

Measure L110. the value will be the same.

Just to be sure about the problem, short L109, and see if the FM work properly, in both channels.

L109 are just part of the MPX output filter so, shorting it with a wire link doesn't cause any problem.

    Cheers

    "L" indicates that it's an inductor/coil..

I found something suspicious on the FM/AM daughter card. A component lead was broken. Anyone know what this component is and where I can find a replacement. Could this be the cause?

Its a pretty old one. TX sv545. Had it for at least 10 years, and it was a hand me down from my brother in law so he had it for a while. I'll try cleaning to see if that fixes it.

But still could be switched with a mechanical switch, since we don't know the model or how old it is....

I fixed an older Pioneer receiver a while ago where the left channel was dropping out. Was a dirty speaker a/b switch.

yes, FM is built in. CD, and the other sources are inputs in the back of the unit

Depending on the design, could be as simple as dirty switch contacts.
I'd start by cleaning the switch that selects the input.

    started a topic Onkyo receiver/amplifier

    Onkyo receiver/amplifier

I have an old Onkyo receiver/amplifier that has a small problem. When listening to FM, one of the channels (I think it is the right one) is very low. However, when listening to any other source (CD player, Satellite receiver, etc) everything works fine: right channel is as strong as left. Any ideas why this could happen? Could a bad cap cause this?

    Thanks for any help

    Onkyo TX-8050 AV-Receiver no sound
    by ai.need.help
    Hello,

I have a problem with my Onkyo TX-8050 Receiver. I got it from aftermarket and it was just delivered today.

It doesn't play music. There is no real output from:
    pre-out
    amp-out A and B
    phones out

The only real sound I hear is a humming from the speakers when I play a song from usb or select a analog source. And when stopping and starting songs from usb or switching sources, I hear a crack from the speakers.

I tested with analog-input, usb and radio.

I know that there is a common problem with...

Onkyo HT-R390 no sound output, video output ok
    by FrancescoV
    Good morning everyone,
I'm trying to repair an onkyo ht-r390 that has no sound output, despite the volume being at maximum, the rest seems to work; the video output signal (coming from an hdmi input) is present, but the audio is absent. Similar situation if I send an audio signal from any input I have no output.

The firmware reported is the following:
    M:1.00/11107BLP
    D:?.??/????????
    O:1.00/11107AL

The DSP firmware given the question marks seems corrupt.

On the BCHDM-0678 - 25140678 - QPWBCHDM0678A0 board the chip that usually seems...

    Anthem MRX500 - no sound

    Dear Electronics Experts:

I have the following problem I am trying to troubleshoot. Unfortunately, I have contacted Anthem themselves and even a local distributer but I am not having much luck. Also, I have scoured the internet and unable to obtain a service manual. The Anthem service rep has also replied that he is unable to provide me with any service documentation. I have performed numerous searches on the internet and cross-referenced a few other AV receiver makers (Denon, Marantz, Onkyo) and found certain similarities to block diagram...

onkyo 919 Receiver... hum problem but...
    by budwich
I have an onyko 919. It has a hum problem at cold start which eventually dies / goes quiet. I have been "chasing" it for a while. Tightening ground screws and checking a few places. Basically, the problem is in the "back half" of the unit.... that is, if I take the sound out of the "pre-out" and feed it to a stand alone amp, it is good. If I feed in a signal at the external decoder input and play thru the back end of the onkyo, it has the hum.

Anyway, along the way (the chase), a number of components (resistors, capacitors, etc) on the main board...
