    Marantz SR3001 Full dead

    Hello everyone,

    Hope you are doing well.

    This is my first attempt to repair Marantz and the receiver I am looking at is SR3001. It is in fully dead condition.

    Here is what has been done/checked so far.

    Earlier when I received this unit, I found the primary of the standby transformer was broken. I replaced the transformer with another which now give 5volts at the output of the regulator IC94.

    The reset IC96 has the below voltages;
    Pin1 --OUT--4.95v
    Pin2 --INPUT--7.9v
    Pin3 --GND--0v

    Voltages present on connector CN83 are as follows;
    +5D=0v
    CEFL=0v
    SEL=5.02
    RCOUT =0V
    SEL+=0V
    ST_LED=4.42V
    RSFL=0V
    VOL-=0V
    VOL+=0V
    OSDDA=0V
    OSDCK=0V
    RSTFL=0V
    KEY=0V
    KEY1=0V
    KEY2=0V

    and CN80 are;

    HP_ON= 0V
    HP_DET=4.3V
    ST_BY=0V
    HEAT=4.87V
    SUR_ON=0V
    FLR_ON=0V
    P_AMP_FAIL=0.85V
    P_DOWN=5V
    P_LINE_FAIL=0.85V
    GND=0V
    GND=0V
    +5VL=5V
    +5VL=5V
    AVSS=0V
    SB_ON=0V

    I have attached the schematic for this unit for reference.

    Any help on this would be appreciated. Let me know if any more measurements are needed.

    Thank you,
    Hemant

    Re: Marantz SR3001 Full dead

    Hello,

    Can anybody put their suggestions, as I am unable to proceed. At least can someone check what are the voltages required by the micro at least to say it is alive.

    Thanks,
    Hemant

      Re: Marantz SR3001 Full dead

      Hello all,

      Here are some updates that may help in getting further direction in troubleshooting.

      When I keep the multimeter on 200 Ohms with one pin (-ve) grounded and other at pin number ST_BY=0V on CN80, the power relay clicks and there is a display as well, but in a bit skewed manner and when I takeout the +ve pin of multimeter, the relay switches off.

      Another, when the same multimeter arrangement is touched on ST_LED=4.42V of CN83, the standby LED is lit up but then no other buttons work on the front panel.

      Any suggestion from above will be helpful

      Thank you

        the reset i.c. should pulse it's output low for a second at power-up
        worth checking
        infact go straight to the computer and check for clock and reset

          ================
          The reset IC does gives a -ve pulse for a very short interval. Just like a blip and is maintained at near 5v.

          And the reset pin of the micro is held high: near 5v as soon as the power button is switched on. As per the pin diagram it must be held LOW, right..if you could please confirm this.

          I am not sure, how to measure the clock though i have an oscilloscope. I don't know the settings to see if the crystal is okay or not.

          Any suggestions on the above.

          Regards,
          Hemant.

            the reset pin should be low for a blip, then high.
            (usually - sometimes inverted)

            if your multimeter has frequency then you can check crystals if they arent too fast.
            most meters can do 4MHz atleast.

              Transformer replacement for a dead coffee machine
              by double_DD
              Hi guys,

              I have a dead coffee machine, and it seems that the culprit (no 1, at least) is a dead trafo - primary coil seems to be blown open (type shown on the picture below).

              Now, I'm unable to find direct replacement anywhere on ebay or aliexpress, and all similar that I' was able to find are rated too low (<1A).

              If someone knows a shop to buy replacement (EU/CH), that would of course be my 1st option.
              My other ideas:
              - to buy 220/20Vac trafo with 30VA, and to "manually" create secondary 12V output just via resistor
              - to buy...

              dead transformer on ceramic oven
              by Wolf1977
              hi in ceramic oven the transformer is damaged
              and writes
              2x115v/2x12v/6VA 50-60hz ta105/f
              can you suggest me a compatible transformer ;
              i have found in 70 degrees celsius do you think is suitable for ceramic oven ;

              Original Xbox 1.0 PSU: Foxlink FTPS-0002 Rev. B. — 12 V low, 5 V high — transformer?
              by ohren
              Hello!

              I'm looking at an original Xbox PSU: Foxlink ftps-0002 rev. B. The 12 V output is too low, and the 5 V output is too (?) high. Unfortunately I don't have an oscilloscope but only a DMM for diagnosis.

              Measured voltages with no load:

              After rectifier diodes
              12V: 6.17 V
              5V: 5.67 V

              Secondary transformer pins AC measurement (really don't know if this says anything)
              12V: 2-2.5 V
              5V: 1.04 V

              I also have another (working) Xbox psu from Delta. The same measures there, in order, being: 10.79,...

              Is it possible for transformer substitution?
              by mikey5791
              Hi all,
              Got this local made DC power supply (12/14V) given free as the transformer has melted. There is no marking or indication to identify what type or rating of transformer used.
              Fyi,. I had a busted autogate mainboard with transformer with marking 13-0-13 . Is this the 13v dc type transformer?
              My questions are
              1. How do i test to see if the transformer is in good working condition?
              2. Can this transformer (marking 13-0-13) be used to replace the melted transformer on the DC power supply?
              Hope you guys understand what i was asking. My intention is...

              How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
              by double_DD
              Hi all,

              As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

              I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

              Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...
