If there is a shorted ic, cap etc., it will heat up if you inject voltage. Douce the suspected parts in 99% IPA alcohol and if something is hot, the alcohol will evaporate fast. Then you got an option with something like a FLIR (visual) or Leakseeker 89 (audio).

Well, without the caps and the I2608D on the board, the only thing that heats is the main IC, a large 100pin ARM GD32F103 VBT6

Also with the battery the led on the power button light powered on, but without the gyroscope, it's worth putting it all together?

Also say that not sure if its a proper short, between the pins of the capacitors place there are 5 Ohms, continuity test on the tester makes it sound like a short, now I don't know if the gyro chip is bad or the ARM is bad.

Will try to make some readings on the gyro chip to see if the Vin and GNT are shorted there and put back the caps on board to see if the power button gets alive with them on it.

What a pain to work with this without any scheme...

Well found at I2608D between Pin 16 VDD 3,3v and pin 13 GND are 1,8 ohms (tester threats that like a short), on board same pins 5,3 Ohms, should I consider damaged the I2608D?

Yes, the I2608D burned out, since there is a short circuit in the power supply and the processor is powered (3.3V) along the same line, it means that the processor got it if there is low resistance at 3.3v.

You have low resistance left on the line (5 Om) and the processor (ARM GD32F103 VBT6) is heating up - that means it is also short and it is also not working, you can check to unsolder it and if the resistance on the 3.3v line increases, you will have to change it too, but it has an internal firmware that you are unlikely to find.

Will try to plug all without the gyro, and see what happens, the heating on the ARM was not burning, only a moderately warm temp, if that is shorted too, nothing to do for me then and should find a new board. On that case, what a piece of shit from Xiaomi/Roidmi for such expensive vacuum robot.

nothing happens, LDO regulator and main IC heats considerably both evaporating alcohol after few seconds, now the power button led is not powering on more. I resign myself.

It makes no sense to repair the board, only a replacement.

Hoover FM216LI cordless vacuum refuses to charge
                          by flat-earther
I have a Hoover FM216LI cordless vacuum which isn't charging its internal battery.

I opened up the unit, and it has 6x Samsung ICR18650-22P cells connected in series.
5 cells were at about 3.3-3.1V. one was at 2.4V, so I assumed this cell was bad that's why the vacuum wasn't charging so I replaced it with another 18650, but after that the problem still persists, the vacuum turns on a bit and then cuts out since the batteries are empty.

So I think the over discharged battery wasn't the culprit, it was a symptom of the unit not being able to charge its batteries....

Hello, I would like to share Abir x6 vacuum robot cleaner rom files that I extracted from SPI ROM chips. One chip is on main board and another is on camera module (the problem with robot was in camera rom, after re-write with other robot's rom it started working perfectly fine).

Maybe this will help you, because I couldn't find it anywhere.

Hello I have been trying to identify and fix a problem with a robot vacuum cleaner, which when switched on cleans for like 3-4 seconds and stops, all the driving, sweeping and vaccum motors stop.
On the pcb from a battery connector up to a main microcontroller everything seems to be fine (vcc pin input is 5v constant when a switch is switched on).
And the switch itself is fine looking at the quality of my soldering
Red LED keeps blinking during those 3-4 working seconds, and when the robot stops LED just remains lit.
The green one for some reason does not even...

                          Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

If you have this Desoldering Gun Station there is something you should be aware of the two screws that hold the motor to mounting for pump can come loose and make raddling noise

One note this unit has been repaired already once because of switching power supply regulator ic chip failure
Now this with the vacuum motor mounting issue yes I give this Desoldering station a very hard work out and use about every weekend to do some type of project

The fix is taking the vacuum pump assembly out and take the metal cover off and you will see the two screws on it
