Re: Jet AFS-1000B Air Cleaner
Kaboom
Thanks for the suggestion. However, the overload is not tripping. It almost seems as if the controller was getting a shutdown command. But the operation is not random. It is very consistent.

Yes.Originally posted by elmoCould a failing triac cause it to operate this way?
Half shorted or leaky triacs will impose a DC component to the voltage fed to the motor.
An induction motor such as the one you're dealing with will not tolerate this. The stator will saturate- motor draws excessive current and pops the breaker/overload.Leave a comment:

Re: Jet AFS-1000B Air Cleaner
Sorry to be gone for so long. I have not had much time to work on it due to other pressing problems. I did manage to remove the control board and jumper the motor directly to power. It works fine in this mode so I'm thinking the problem is in the board.Leave a comment:

Re: Jet AFS-1000B Air Cleaner
The externally resettable overload switch is most likely a current overload. The motor probably has an additional thermal cutout embedded within it.
I would remove the PCB and connect the motor directly to AC using each of the L,M,S windings in turn. It would be advisable to include the external current overload switch in the circuit.Leave a comment:

Re: Jet AFS-1000B Air Cleaner
Thanks for all your responses. I don't have any photos yet but will post them as soon as I do. There is a thermal overload switch on the unit but it is not tripping. I did find a data sheet and circuit diagram for the controller IC but it may not be the same one you are referring to. The one I have is at .
I found someone on another forum who was having the same problem. He solved his by replacing the whole circuit board. I was hoping to be able to repair the one I have since it seems to be in good shape. I think the controller IC is working since I can select all the different speeds and times with the remote control. That is why I thought the triac might be failing. I haven't been able to check the -5V supply yet but it seems to be adequate to power the controller IC and the remote control.Leave a comment:

JET AFS-1000B Operating Instructions:
6.2 Overload protection
The fuse switch (C, Fig 4) will pop out in case of overload. Wait 5 minutes and push the fuse back in.Leave a comment:

Re: Jet AFS-1000B Air Cleaner
Is there a thermal cutout?
Here is the datasheet and application circuit for the controller (CP8112B-L8SN24):

Jet AFS-1000B Air Cleaner
I have a Jet AFS-1000B Air Cleaner. It has a three speed blower and a remote control. It has a CP8112B-L8SN24 controller and BT139X-600F triacs on the output to the blower. I usually run it on the lowest speed. Recently, it started shutting off after running for only a few minutes. If I restart it immediately, it will run for only a few seconds. If I wait a while, it will run for a few minutes again before shutting off. Could a failing triac cause it to operate this way? The remote control and all the speed and timer functions seem to work fine. The control board is powered up all the time even when the blower is off.Tags: None

by piipoHi, I have an old Privileg brand 5.1 speakers. I have lost the remote control. I have an universal Harmony remote but there is no Privileg brand in it's software to add. Does anybody have an idea what alternative brand for a remote can I try instead? I'm attaching an image of what the speakers looks like. The image shows 2 main speakers, they are 5 + 1 in total. Thank you very much1 Photo

by hemant_2222Hello Everyone,
Hope everyone is enjoying their repairs at hand!.
I am looking forward to get the schematic of Denon remote control RC1156. Actually long time no use of the remote leaked the battery thereby corroding few parts as well as the tracks.
I was able to join few of them but the remote is still not working, so i am looking forward for your help, in case anyone understand the schematic or the remote circuit diagram and could me assist me in repairing it.
Please refer to the attached picture, i think the voltage divider is missing...-

by dfearI have a hitachi 75hl16t64u tv in for repair and it is driving me crazy.
It came in for a power issue which I have finally resolved by replacing the power supply.
The current issue is that the TV does not respond to the remote control. I have replaced the IR sensor board with a used one but the fault persists.
Anyone have a clue how to fix TV?
FYI: I have checked the remote work s by pointing it at my camera on my phone.... -
by wolf1976hi i have a receiver that is destroyed from the overvoltage i guess
my question is has three wires u v w for driving a motor fan i found an other receiver wireless from aliexpresss with the same propertiew but for dc motor
the motor fan has not label
i have an other receiver operational
In your opinion can i measure the voltage at the output ?
what do you suggest me with a simple instrument multimeter or using someone instrument more specific ?
thanks in advance... -
by t4796I managed to drop this recently. It fell flat and square onto the floor from about 1.8m. Can't remember if face up or face down.
The remote still kinda works but the display is blank and only shows up if I repeatedly flick the little silver crystal/oscillator looking thing on the board.
Not sure if this part is the culprit or if flicking it is moving something else, but it seems localised to that component as far as I can tell.
Having trouble working out the value of it since it doesn't seem to have anything other than a brand name printed on the side of it.... - Loading...
