WF45B6300AW display board bad smd cap

I am working on a Samsung WF45B6300AW washer display board number DC9203079A. C864 and C851 are across the 12volt near the WiFi module. One of them is shorted and one test at 22µf. They are the same size. Do you think they may have both been 20µf to make a 40µf?

    Thanks
    Tony

whats the question? are you asking if you can fit a 47uf cap in there?
ceramics are super low esr so maybe a polymer would work but electrolytics would be inferior

Look up something like SMD capacitor size chart. You get a good idea of capacitance value vs SMD/SMT chip cap size.

If these MLCC’s were in parallel, then they were the same value. I do not recommend anymore just swapping out the bad one and leaving the good one in. Replace both capacitors. In your case probably some Kemet X7R 22uF 50V and call it a day.

If these were not parallel, in this case I’still try it, because the size between the MLCC’s are the same.

I was thinking like CapLeaker has said that they would be the same value in parallel. Then the correct replacement would be something like a22µf.

Thanks all I will try two new 22µf or so.

I scrounged up a couple 22UF caps. The washer is alive. I ordered some 25volt replacements incase these were not 16 volt caps that I found.

Just put 50v X7R in there. Don’t go lower than 25V, min 25V better 50V on these MLCC’s on this use.
