    GYSMI 160p welder transistors shorted

    Hello,

Here I have GYSMI 160p welder with no output. Otherwise the machine is starting, the fan is spinning, but the output is zero... I disassembled the welder and found the problem. 3 out of 6 transistors are shorted, and 3 pairs of 4 resistors are burned... There's also 1 burned "ultra fast diod" on another board that is connected to the transformer. My question is how can I identify these burned resistors, I have no idea what value they should be, also I am not able to find any image of the board over the internet... The other part numbers are clearly visible, so I won't have any problems replacing them. I assume one of the 3 transistors got shorted and then the disaster happened... All resistors have holes on the same place, so no way to read the value... Attaching some images of the board. All other elements are measured good.

    Thanks

The resistors look like R100 which would be 0.1Ω They are emitter resistors for the IGBT If the transistor is shorted it may have damaged the gate drive circuit as well

I am thinking someone had welded with this thing on full bore for too long and then it went down the hill fast. As RJ already mentioned above, I say too the resistors are R100. Just make sure you inspect the gate drive if the IGBT thoroughly. You can check the gate drive with the IGBT’s out.

Thank you guys for the responses. I'll try it with R100, Didn't think of the gate drive, but you're right. I'll check it as well. I'll update after I replace all the components..

If the drain shorts to the gate, whatever that drain voltage is gets sent to the drive circuit and in most cases the drive circuit can't handle it.

Help diagnosing Pyle Receiver PTA66BT with burned resistors
            by SluggerB
Spoiler alert: I am a total noob at this, just getting into the hobby

My buddy has an audio receiver that stopped worked, everything turns on and functions but no sound comes out of any output (Speaker, AV, or Headphone) So I said I would take a look at it. I popped the cover off, and saw an obvious issue: One of the resistors on the board had burned up.

            Hello,

I know some might say... just buy another one. Sell it as parts..!

So had this AMP for quite some time. Recently I saw light smoke coming out of the AMP. Had my fire extinguisher close by. Just kidding. Turned immediately all devices off from mains.
Let things cool a bit, and opened up the amp device. I clearly saw on the main board which hosts the 5X amp (5.1), 3 10 ohms 1W resistors had their leads looking black, while the rest of the remaining 2 x 10 ohms were brownish as being installed from factory.

Spent some time downloading the Service...

Dell Latitude 5501 LA-H181P shorted power rail
            by guizmo1967
            Hello,

            This is my problem:

            Laptop: Dell Latitude 5501
            Motherboard: EDC51 LA-H181P

I have two power rails shorted to ground, +1.0V_PRIM and +3.3V_ALW_PCH. I removed solder on PJP302, +1.05VALWP (pad1) not shorted but +1.0V_PRIM (pad2) shorted.

            I also cleaned PJP38, pad1 not shorted, pad2 (+3.3V_ALW_PCH) shorted to ground.

I measure the resistance of all the coils on the motherboard and they all were not shorted to ground except coil PL301 before I removed the solder on PJP302.

            I injected +1.05V - 2A...

Lenovo laptop burned/shorted power rail repair
            by stuntR
First thread here! I've got this Ideapad 720s laptop to fix it has no power or charging so immediately after disassembly I found a cap that looked burned, and on the other side of the board a layer was found in this state.

I believe this is the main power rail as it is on the battery input mosfets. When I plug in the charger and nothing else there is small sparks when it is pressed with a plastic spudger (oh god).

I have taken pictures of the burned area and also removed some capacitors on the reverse to have a better look

            Can...

Un70TU7000b Backlights work, no picture, has sound, panel shorted caps
            by EazyBone
Picked up this Samsung above thinking it'd be backlights but it isn't. Now MAYBE I'll get lucky.
Found some shorted caps among the panel boards. Each cap along the line is shorted. On every board (3 panel driver boards)I disconnect each side right and left ribbons and they are no longer shorted caps and have about 1.5Mohm resistance (on left and right boards). The middle board has the main board disconnected and the caps are shorted. Last 4 pics show arrow to caps.

Now what exactly do I need to do in order to attempt to fix this issue?

do I have to take each one...
