you metered the element cold, it could go open as it heats.
put a high wattage lamp in series with it to see if it draws current continuously
or use a clamp-meter

LG LST5651SW stove: The oven has a hidden bottom (bake) element that seems not to be heating up, but tests OK.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Set oven to 400. The display shows it heating up normally to about 365, and stops there. The top (broil) element is visible and heated. Can't see the bottom element, but the bottom of the oven isn't extremely hot. A wet cloth on the bottom doesn't sizzle and doesn't really heat up. The stovetop burners seem to be working fine.
TESTING SO FAR:
1) Removed the back panel and leads to the bottom element. Using multimeter, continuity test is positive (continuous tone). Ohm test reads about 16.5 ohms; the product sheet says it should be 17 ohms.
2) Removed the sensor for testing. Plug openings too small to fit multimeter probes, so inserted wires into the back of the plug where the sensor wires go in. No continuity tone, but ohm reading is 1,100; product sheets says it should be 1,090.
It seems the bottom element is not heating, but is OK. Not sure why the sensory continuity test fails, but the ohm reading seems OK.
Any idea what to do next? Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is the right sub category or even the right forum but here goes,,,
I'll just dive right in. I want to see if it's possible and what it would take to use a PID Controller (or 2) to run a central air conditioning heater element (the kind that goes into an air handler) and a small blower fan... The application is a DIY Sauna... Am I nuts? Mean, these components could be had for around 100 bucks.
What do I need to be thinking?
Of course I will go to Vevor and order one of their 200$ sauna heaters so I... -
I've got this circuit that I've been playing with on a breadboard. I'm not happy with it mainly because the MOSFET gets too hot and generally controlling the temp of the heating element with the Arduino has proven to be a little more cumbersome than I would like.
What I would like to know, is what is the best way to set up a circuit like this? The heating element is just a PCB and its going to be mounted under a 3D-printed enclosure that a lizard will use to warm his belly.

This unit was rescued from a skip 3 years ago, the only fault it had then was no backight display (plus it wanted a new probe set and top seal) but the screen was never an issue you can still see the screen as is and I just use it to get 5 Litres of very hot...
