Can you identify this sot223 package ?

    Hi

I have been looking for the specification on this sot 223 package but have not found it yet, a datasheet for this chip would help.

The only markings on it is '1117M3' and on the second line '330212'

Do you know who made it ?

    Added picture of it.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi Gabriel.
I hope this datasheet could be useful for you:
    SPX1117M3-L/TR - 800mA Low Dropout Voltage Regulator
    - Sipex Corporation
    Have a nice weekend

How do you know if this chip is rated for 1.8,3.3 5V or any other for that matter ?

Do you think Sipex is the producer of the chip in the picture ?

A large number of companies make LDO regulators in the SOT223 package. Usually the characters 117 appear on the top line and the output voltage appears on the second line, together with some other information, such as a date code. This isn't absolute proof. If you want to be thorough, trace the output to the load, and look up the datasheet for any ICs that it supplies.

For what it's worth, these are often referred to as 'jelly bean' parts. They are available from a variety of companies, and are interchangeable for all practical purposes (provided you select one with the proper output voltage).

By the way - good picture.

            330 means 3.3V

i'v got loads in my spares box, you find them on old motherboards.
