led are crap if used wrong as in most cases i see .. they whoever they are seem to think running them at the max is a good thing .. i tame the little buggers with a suitable resistor to run at the lowest current whilst it is as bright as it needs to be .. they should be banned in cars until its sorted . same as any overbright light that dazzles road users .
well thats my view on the matter .

Yeah incandescent bulbs will run quite hot, depending on wattage and physical dissipation size. All of the heat must be dissipated, they can't get infinitely hot. Just that LEDs will melt down before tungsten.

I don't think I can hold onto 80°C. 60°C probably is my absolute limit. I burned myself trying to remove a bulb cover in my car trying to investigate what kind of lamp it uses, I think it got to 70°C+ and it seems to only be 0.5W? I might have to remove it or replace it with LEDs just so I can leave my doors open without fear of draining the battery - seems it draws 3A - same as a headlight bulb - when the lights are on.

Not replacing them with this bulb of course, I think that bulb was only 0.5W to 1W at most. Perhaps an override switch to shut the lamps off when I don't want them on is a better solution...

Galax 3090 bad duty cycle on mem phase
            by pedrolopesbe
I got this 3090 wich I own, same board as the common 388_50 boardview.
I'm new to SMD work, and in a moment of stress trying to solder a 0402 filter cap that I've knocked out I've made a big solder mess in the "U42" drmos.
As past is past, after getting a pre heater now I succesfully unsoldered the chip but I'm having problems soldering it back again.
At the last time I've worked on it, I had to reflow it as it was not giving any out signal, measuring using the Hz function in my multimeter.
Now I get a reading of something like 1.7kz while other phases 3.09khz...

Asus Z97-a power cycle, no boot no cpu voltage
            by meraklinetx
Hello, I have an asus Z97-A motherboard and it doesn't start which was working properly before, the problem isn't related by ram, ram slots or psu (I changed all and nothing work), the exact problem is when you switch it on , it starts and after 1 seconds (no boot or display picture) it's off and then on cycle continuously until you power it off from psu also it's responding to the power switch for turning it off if you keep pressing it 3 or 4 seconds (power button pin has 3.3v) , also when you start it with eatx 12v socket connected this is happening (power cycle also all voltages are resetting...

Vizio TV M50-C1 reboot cycle and static on screen
            by spice_disc
I'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.

The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...

Epson 5040UB Projector No Lamp Strike Stuck in Startup - Blinking Status/Lamp Lights
            by vestaviascott
Hoping someone here can put me on the right track. I'm trying to troubleshoot/flowchart the "internal projector error" on my newly acquired Facebook Marketplace bought Epson 5040UB projector (3LED, not DLP). Owner said it needed new lamp, actually error code blink pattern indicates "Internal Projector Error, call Epson support". Unit is out of warranty as of 8/19

            Here's what happens:

            1) Power on
            2) Blue power indicator lights and the lens cover motor opens the lens cover, light fan noise heard
            3) Blue status light flashes for appx 4 minutes...

BenQ TH681 Originally overheating now wont fire the lamp - Colour wheel not starting
            by AJ847.63e
            Hi All.

Does anyone have any reference materials or something I can use to try troubleshooting a BenQ TH681? Google unfortunately has turned up zip. I did find a service manual for a W series BenQ but that is pretty much useless, it's more a glorified user manual. A list of voltages would be great as I suspect my mainboard is faulty, the colour wheel voltage is not dipping like it should.

The one I am troubleshooting now was originally overheating after a lamp replacement. It originally would take 2 minutes or so for it to shut off and blink the temp and lamp lights...
