How different in size can you go for SMD capacitors?

I'm working on bringing an old cell phone back to life. During the repair of the actual damaged part, I accidentally desoldered a few tiny (like grain of sand tiny) cap's off the board which are now forever lost on my basement floor.

I have the schematic of the board so I looked them up and got some replacements, and despite a half dozen attempts, these damn things are WAY to small for me to get on the board. Every time I try it just gets screwed up, the cap flys off from the hot air, I try to put pressure on it and it pops out and goes flying, etc. I don't have the tools needed to work with stuff this tiny

Could I get some larger SMD's with the same specs and use them, as long as I can make contact with the solder pads?

try holding them down with flux when blowing hot air .

Sometimes I lay a needle tip across the smd and lay something on it to apply a bit of pressure. the needle tip will hold the smd in place as the solder melts.

This works for me as well. If the pads are tinned the component will fall right into place.

with the flux there i find i can add solder if needed but a little tricky to get it right . have tried solder paste but getting the right amount is white man's magic to me . can never get it so it's not too much .

            Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

After updating motherboard capacitors, what to do next (Asrock K7VT2, SOLTEK SL-75FRN2L)
            by dragon3x
Hi, I have some 32 bits computer motherboards that need repair, as they fail to
            power on.

            Here are some examples :

(N.B. "capacitors" indicated here are electrolytic capacitors located in the onboard
            switching supply area).
            (N.B. #2 : I could not find a 3300 microF aluminum-polymer with a higher voltage
            than 6.3 V.)

1 - Motherboard #1 : this is an Asrock K7VT2 (socket A) that still works well. To put it on test
            I replaced capacitors with aluminum-polymer.
            3300 microF/6.3 V. x 4 replaced by 3300 microF/6.3 V. (KYOCERA...

Copy DMI info easily with Hex editing software and Macro script
            by SMDFlea
Copying DMI information from an old bios to a new one is difficult for some members, often they have no experience with a hex editor,or some that have tried find it too hard. There is an option to make things easier for those members so that they don`t need to post their own bios backup for the DMI copying.

Experienced bios modding members can help by posting in other threads the DMI offsets, macro script generated by the software and a download link to the software at softpedia mentioned in this guide,or post your macros in the comments here with a link to the bios request thread ....

AA and AAA battery charger capacitors?
            by slybunda
hey all, iv got my favourite battery charger here which iv had for many years probably 15 years now or maybe even more. it still works good but thought id open it up to clean the dust out of it, lots of dust inside but now its clean and noticed 4 capacitors inside it and wondered if i should replace them.
            it has inside:
            2 x 47uf 16v caps 105c branded as Su'scon (lol sounds sus to me)
            2 x 470uf 16v LZ105c branded as G.Luxon

not heard of these brands are they any good?

iv attached photos of the charger and the board inside for an idea on the type of...
