I need help with designing a 8 channel battery voltage / current datalogger

I could buy a eight channel battery tester however all grounds are shared

What I am wanting to do is charger and monitor the voltage / current of at least 4 batteries at a time in series and use a computer for the data-logging

Does anyone on the forum have any ideas how I could do this

voltage is easy, get a microcontroller with enough analog chanels and just tap all the midpoints.
then use math to seperate the readings.
so the first cell is direct,
the second cell you deduct the voltage at the first cell.
the third cell you deduct the voltage at the second.
    and so-on.

not sure how you read current without a common rail.

I want to do this with isolated voltage reading if possible

Because I want to test BMS balancing protection boards
Because I want to match battery for the BMS balancing protection board

Because just how accurate is use a voltage divider are you really measuring the actual voltage is or a rough estimate of voltage

I still have not found a solution to issue but still looking for one

Is there a way to monitor the voltage using an optic sensor as isolating barer I am just asking the question if could be done this and if it can how would you do this

I just thought of a possible solution but you won't like implementing it if you're not an EE as it has so many pitfalls... (Basically put a multimeter at every battery and read each one on its own) so I think you have to go with stj's method or electromechanical....

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

The ISL88739 & ISL88739AHRZ are a highly versatile combo battery charger
configurable for operating as either a Hybrid Power Boost (HPB)
charger or a Narrow VDC (NVDC) charger, supporting 2-, 3-, or
4-cell batteries. Both configurations allow the battery to work with
the adapter together to supply the system load when it exceeds
the adapter capability, referred to as system Turbo mode. HPB
charger configuration reverse-boosts battery energy to the system
bus to help the adapter provide the system power in Turbo mode.

How to modify a switching power supply that has voltage/current adjustable but powering it from a battery pack
                by sam_sam_sam
I have been pondering this question for a while but now I have see if this doable but I need to answer this question once and for all

I would like to know how to safely do this undertaking my first thought is to solder wires to the main filtering capacitors and see
what voltage I am getting and seeing if I can build a battery pack with voltage or not and if

I can find a BMS balancing protection board at this voltage level and weather or not do I have use more than one BMS balancing protection board...
