What size barrel jack is this?

I want to adapt this plug

    to this socket

some time back i got a replacement charger for my laptop, i fixed the original, and this laptop uses the same power spec on a different jack size, so rather than buying a adapter i can just buy a adapter jack

That looks like it has a pin in the centre for sensing the power, a Dell ? It could be an HP but either way you will have to spoof the sensing. HP use resistors and Dell a chip.

I think it's easier to just tell us the brand/model of the laptop and can work backwards from there. Hopefully it does not use a custom chip to supply.

      Dell
      Sony
      HP
      Lenovo

It is a dell N5010, it calls for a 65W brick
i did try it by bypassing the jack completely and it did work, i disabled the power adapter warning in the BIOS

will it just throttle the laptop without the sense?

as far as I know, it will simply charge slow or not charge at all if it can't ascertain the charger.

as i have no battery, that is not really an immediate concern

Well, the implication is that it could simply not power the CPU either, so throttling is indeed possibility... or simply shutdown...

who knows what the firmware says...

Using a non Dell charger on a Dell will mean it's throttled and won't charge the battery at all.
It's fairly easy to make something to spoof the charger though. https://hackaday.com/2014/03/03/hack...dentification/

Notice to users of XGecu TL866II Plus / T48 / T56 / T76 programmers regarding BIOS backup file size
                  by m1ch43lzm
                  Hi everyone
I noticed on the Xgpro software the BIOS backup files have extra bytes at the end when reading some chips, this is because the Xgpro software also reads the OTP region of those flash chips, and by default will append that region to the saved file
                  Programmer models: XGecu TL866II Plus / T48 / T56 / T76

Example: GD25LQ128D (1.8V), IC size is listed as 0x1000000 Bytes (16777216 bytes) + 0xC00 bytes, those extra 0xC00 bytes will be appended to the end of the saved file by default, resulting in a file size of 16780288 bytes
There's also an extra OTP Secu.R...

                  Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Methods for testing 3 pin Barrel jack PSU's?
                  by abajor
I'm getting pretty annoyed with the lack of options for testing HP, DELL, ASUS etc. Laptop PSU's the old 2 pin jacks were easier.

From what I understand the +V is on the internal barrel ring, and the control/sense voltage is on the center pin.

I was wondering if someone has made a laptop PSU load tester where technicians can easily scope and load these 3pin laptop PSU to see if it's failing?

Samsung UN55FH6030CXZA main board USB jack indentification
                  by valvashon
Samsung UN55FH6030CXZA main board, BN41-01894, bad USB jack. Jack is mangled and needs replacing with like. Jack is marked "Simula" with the number 130318. Search for Simula turns up a weak looking website of a company that seems/seemed to supply USB jacks and other USB technology but no current items turn up for sale.

I should be able to research and find something applicable through a Digi-Key search after I unsolder/cut out this one and measure the mounting/pin connection pattern on the board but I thought I'd ask here to see if anybody knows of an exact make/model...

Screw-In Barrel Adapter for LED light array gets really hot?
                  by zman78
                  Hi All,

I have an LED Light array that had a built-in AC-DC 24v 45 watt power supply. The power supply failed so I desoldered the LED Light array power input wires from the power supply and then screwed it into barrel connector jack (ends still tinned with the original solder).

This is the barrel connect or jack https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q6YMM6F/

Then I bought an external 24Volt/3Amp power brick (with same size barrel connector output) and plugged it in.

Everything works fine, except that the screw-in barrel connector gets...
