part-p should stand for part-pisstake, and should never be confused with a real qualification.

all it means is you know how to put a wire in a terminal block, and you had a company sponsor or paid an extortionate fee to get your certificate.

fuck part-p, it's worth less than the paper it's printed on.

All these things you can do it yourself but if the insurance man comes in a fire and sees stuff not to code, they'll deny claims even if it's not at fault...

It's not really hard to meet code, just that it changes so often with obscure requirements... I can't believe recent NEC requires tamper resistant outlets now, installing regular unprotected outlets in new houses is against code?

IANA Electrician or Lawyer, if it's not obvious

For a 100amp panel you have to have #3 copper or #2 aluminum. As far as voltage drop, I would not worry about it being that close. Unless your stringing it over head. Then #4 triplex will do the job.

          I skimmed over the posts.

Did you ever say how many amps you are planning on using inside the shed???

If you just want a couple LED bulbs; you probably can get away with very thin wire.

If you want to wire in 20 H.P.S. bulbs to grow ganja at 1000 Watts each, then you'll want something bigger. LOL!!!

I have tons of spare parts, some used, some N.O.S. ham transistors and caps. Message me if you need any parts.

Some of the things I've fixed:
60" Vizio-bad LED's. iBook G4: Resoldered VCC Plug. Geo Tracker ECU: Swollen / Leaking capacitors. Windows Laptop: Soldered broken LVDS wires. Dryer: Burned contact on temp switch. Oven in R.V.: Bad contacts in relays-Exploded by the looks of them! Samsung Oven: Burned contacts on Relays. MSI Motherboard: BSOD-Swollen capacitors, bad graphics card, Moved SATA Input from SATA 1 to SATA 2 plug

Oh, and I think we were looking at a similar question on our detached garage.

We were recommended to use a special gray PVC style pipe to encase the wires underground, in case moles try to chew on it.

Lift Master garage door opener with WiFi capability application through your phone
              by sam_sam_sam
I had a lot of trouble with the WiFi connection from my router inside of the house into a ( new ) metal garage I had to run a 150 ft cat6 patch cord so the WIFI connection would be strong enough for the WiFi connection on the garage door opener would work correctly ( my son has a work out area in the garage as well and he was having to put his phone near the door to be able to stream music ) ( so I was going to eventually put WiFi out there anyway )

This garage door opener WiFi is very touchy if you lose the power it does not remember the password for the router which is weird or...

              by sam_sam_sam
This happened last Saturday and today I finally had time this morning before I went to work to replace two non brand capacitors

I will let you be the judge weather or not these are bad or not according to the blue ESR meter that I am using

I am comparing them to a brand new one that I installed

The display came back on and the programming was not lost which I was surprised by I would have thought that when the display went blank that so did the memory as well

I going to let it run for several days before I remount back on the wall next to the...

Vintage fan repair, copper wire question
              by technicalspecialist
I currently have a customer's vintage fan on the work bench to repair.
It uses an induction motor with 4 poles. One of the poles is open.
I couldn't find the break so i cut off the original wire.
I have measured the other poles and the resistance is about 28 ohms per pole and I measured the diameter of the wire with my digital calipers and it is 0.35mm in diameter.

I need to work out how much 0.35mm diameter enamelled copper wire i need to order for it to be 28 ohms. I have used this calculator and it says i need 160.35 metres.

              The enamelled copper...
