You have probably seen lithium-ion polymer (Li-Po) batteries bulge from overcharge, but I have seen such batteries (no-name Chinese units, but not quality units e.g. Sanyo, Samsung etc.) bulge from not being used for a long time during self-discharge.
Could this be caused by an internal reaction (most likely caused by poor cell design) from deep self-discharge?
